Here's the link to buy the japanese release of this movie. It came out 09/03/2013 as stated by original poster of this thread. According to CDJapan it's remastered but have found no reviews with screenshots yet:

I like the movie, but there's no way I'd pay $50+ when cheaper versions are just around the corner.

CDJapan are great to order from though...

99.9% chance it's from Full Moon. I'd probably wait for the 88 Films UK release that will be Region Free and will inevitably have better audio and video encoding.

Yup, I'm waiting on the 88 Films release. Their releases always trump Full Moon's domestic releases in quality. I'm sure it won't be out from them until early 2014, but I've happily waited on their previous releases before too.

I'll be getting both versions. Can't wait to see this movie in high-def - I hope they do actually have a new remaster. Even though the PQ on the DVD was good, it looked too bright.
