One of my personal faves. Really like the ending.

Sorry, I misunderstood a post on blu-ray.com in the Shout Factory thread that was actually related to the Arrow release. My apologizes.

In all seriousness, this is such a truthful movie for teenage boys. What a suckerpunch of an ending. Pretty much the Citizen Kane of 80s sex comedies.
This is a scene by scene remake of the superior "Lemon Popsicle".

The Arrow one should be fine, anyway. I don't believe this movie had a history of censorship or rights issues. This should be a pretty straight up project for Arrow. They just have to tighten up their qc department.

Lemon Popsicle was a fun surprisingly dramatic sex comedy. Thanks for the recommendation.

I do want to see the original Israeli version, and I just found out it's by the same director. So LAV was not a "rip off" of Lemon Popsicle (not that anyone here called it as such) but rather the director taking the same story and putting it in a contemporary setting. I'm pretty sure the version that takes place in Israel in the 50s does not have music by Oingo Boingo, U2, The Police, and Devo.

Funny we're talking about this movie, as it just came on MGM HD last night around 1AM. I saw it while flipping channels before I went to bed, and ended up watching the whole damn thing again.

I do like that second Arrow cover. The soundtrack LP I have has the same artwork.

I have two versions of the soundtrack LP with slightly different track lists. One is a Japanese import that I believe includes the Human League track ronnie21 mentions was cut from the MGM DVD release (they're in storage or I'd check and confirm.)

No mention of deleted or alternate scenes. TV versions apparently include an extended scene of the guys going to the pharmacist to treat their crabs. Also, a different opening credits sequence.

And someone claims the version shown on cable in the early 80s includes a scene of the guys hooking up with transvestites. After one of the guys discovers "THIS CHICK'S GOT BALLS!!" they cut to them washing their mouths out with whiskey. Now I remember seeing this scene in the early days of HBO but I can't figure how it would fit into "The Last American Virgin." Anyone else remember this scene and what it's from?

Saw Lemon Popsicle a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but I personally prefer LAV. Will definitely be grabbing this release.

Yes, Lemon Popsicle has 50s/60s music and I believe it serves the movie very well.

Yeah, I know the losing our innocence has very stupid and embarrassing moments, but some parts of the story are a much better fit for a 50s/60s scenario than for an 80s one.

Still, both movies are great, but I have a soft spot for "Lemon Popsicle" over his American remake.
