And how dare you do so! This is porn we are discussing here! Anyway, over at bluray.com there has been a bit said about Anchor Bay "updating" several sound files (i.e. new thunder effects). Can anyone confirm or deny this?

This was initially done for the 5.1 track for the 1999 THX release. I suspect the same replacement effects are in place on the new surround track. Some forum posters at different sites are also saying the mono track on the 35th Blu-ray is a down-conversion of the 7.1 track instead of the original mono track that's appeared on some of the prior releases. My disc shipped from Amazon today. I'll report in detail once I have it in my hands.

This is now $19.99 on amazon, has anyone seen any horror blu-rays out in stores for Halloween yet? Meijer and wal-mart had a bunch of dvds including some Scream factory titles, but no blu-rays.

No kidding. That's the first I'd heard of that. Thanks Shape.

I would love to have the steelbook - but no word if its region free yet - tempting to buy just for the casing though
I can't believe the steelbook is coming out so much later. I thought it was this week but it's not till next month. I don't know how the one reviewer on Amazon.uk got it so soon.

How can you not like the the score to Halloween?

I'm pretty sure that Amazon.co.uk reviewer is a bullshitter.

I got the release and unfortunately, they speak the truth. I watched the scene where Loomis and Marion are driving to Smith's Grove and the additional lighting sound effect added for the 5.1 mix where Loomis says "Never, never, never." is there.

I guess another reason to keep the original Blu.

He says the he got an early copy because hes freelance.

He also confirms that the Tv scenes are present as extras.

Lol the commentary on this is great. Curtis is really knowledgeable about the details of the shoot (lol and she shits her pants at every scare).

I notified Anchor Bay on Facebook regarding on the Mono mix on the 35th AE and suggested they look into this and do a replacement program.

I suggest you should do the same.

Amen to that.

This is a very lazy review in general--and indicative of the aversion to research that most online reviewers demonstrate. With this disc offering vastly different color timing compared to both the 1999 THX DVD and the prior Blu release you think he'd at least mention the controversy and the differences. But after seeing reviewers universally praising the surround track on the Jaws Blu-ray (despite the continued presence of the same woefully replaced sound effects) I've come to expect this kind of thing.

Thanks to those of you who've posted your impressions of this disc here. Straight talk is hard to find online.
