CS 2 was decent, not as great as the first but I'll be waiting for this to street.

What a worthless release this looks to be. It's obviously an old transfer, with not even a trailer added. They didn't get any of the Anchor Bay extras from their excellent DVD Special Edition release and didn't even reach out to create anything new.

Image may be one of my least favorite companies out there. From the miserable upconvert on HILLS HAVE EYES to the old HD master that was recycled for RE-ANIMATOR, not to mention their lackluster handling of the New World releases, they have proven to be a diehard traveler on the path of least resistance when it comes to catalog titles.

Honestly, what is the point of spending money on this release? How great a visual/audio upgrade could I possibly be getting from this cashgrab?

I'll be sticking with my Anchor Bay special edition DVD. No way I'm supporting bullshit, half-assed releases like this anymore.

Isn't Second Sight releasing this in the UK soon? Maybe I'm thinking of the first film.

While I agree that this blu-ray looks to be half-assed, I disagree about Image. They are responsible for the amazing Twilight Zone BD's which are my favorite blu's in my collection. I'll hold out for this to either drop to $5 or for a region B or C release.

I received it earlier today. The transfer looks fairly good in most scenes. I found The Raft sequence to benefit the most from an HD bump.

The Blu-ray is indeed barebones, but at least the disc does have a menu with scene selections.

So if you love the film, it's probably the best the film has yet appeared in the home. Perhaps Arrow (or some other Euro studio) will release a packed Blu-ray release sometime in the future, but for now this is it.

If anyone overseas is wondering... the disc is definitely "A" locked.

I have the German blu-ray from a few years back and it's horrendously cut! Even without extra features, I'm looking forward to having the original cut of the film on BR.

Best Buy won't be carrying either in store. They assigned 8 digit skus to both discs which means they will be available only for online purchase.
