Alamo Drafthouse Films brings MIAMI CONNECTION (1987) to Blu! '80s AWESOMENESS!

Drafthouse Films and Image Entertainment team up to bring you Y.K. Kim's MIAMI CONNECTION (1987), the most ridiculously insane movie you're likely to see this year. Dragon Sound, the hot new band on Florida's club scene, have to utilize their martial arts skills to take down a cocaine czar and his team of motorcycle-riding ninja henchmen, other random street gangs, and even another rock outfit... This is the kind of movie you can't make up. Watch the clips compilation below if you don't believe me. Essential stuff.

Pre-order:
DVD: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ag=cinema09-20
Blu: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ag=cinema09-20

Awesome tribute trailer:

You and me both, Nick! Drafhouse Films have a really eclectic line-up so far -- I like that their roster runs the gamut from '80s trash like MIAMI CONNECTION to the Oscar-nominated BULLHEAD.

I'm especially excited about their upcoming release of the Australian classic WAKE IN FRIGHT. I'm glad I held off from picking up the import blu!

This one certainly looks interesting, but not $20+ interesting enough for a total blind buy.

I've seen Miami Connection. It's well worth $20 if you're a connoisseur of "so bad it's good". Hilariously bad. Grab some pals, a couple pizzas, and throw Miami Connection on. Guaranteed good times.

The Miami Connection Blu-ray is a day 1 purchase for me!

I trust you. I'll probably wait until the price lowers a bit, though.

Most of Drafthouse Films' releases are newer titles like KLOWN and BULLHEAD, but they'll be throwing the occasional retro-restoration in there, too, a la MIAMI CONNECTION and WAKE IN FRIGHT. (I believe they also had something to do with the 3-D revival screenings of COMIN' AT YOU!)

They're also co-producing Mark Hartley's ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: THE WILD, UNTOLD STORY OF CANNON FILMS, his follow-up to NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD and MACHETE MAIDENS UNLEASHED.

Their website is here:

I'll buy this, hope it drops a bit, but even if not, this one is pretty hilarious. I was crying towards the end with the three Dragon Sound guys fighting the ninja bikers. I also liked the main beardy bad guy, he was like a combination of George Eastman and Chuck Norris.

I even like the music. Sure it's possibly the cheesiest music you could ever imagine - songs about Tae Kwon Do and Friendship but I like it. I don't think there's a soundtrack, but Drafthouse site linked to a couple posts up has a 2 song sample pack, so that's something.

So far my plan has backfired as the blu-ray has been sitting at $27 on Amazon for a month now. They've actually added a lot of package deals on the site plus you can get a sleeveless Dragon Sound shirt. I'd totally get the shirt if it was a t-shirt, I look like an asshole in a sleeveless shirt.

I kinda want the "Oh My God" package:

MIAMI CONNECTION on Blu-ray or Standard DVD with over 2 hours of bonus material
High Quality 720p HD Digital Download of the Film
27" x 40" Poster Autographed by each Dragon Sound band member!
Dragon Sound 7" Vinyl featuring "Friends" and "Against The Ninja" - Limited edition of 800.
Instant Download of the MIAMI CONNECTION Soundtrack in MP3 format

Pre-Order $39.99

+T-Shirt for $15

This movie is pretty amazing, but not $55+shipping amazing. I might just get the blu-ray + mp3 download for $20 unless Amazon comes down.
