Glad to hear it. The last one was a cool return, but I had a tough time differentiating songs about halfway through the album. I read that the new album is heavier, and I liked both singles so far.

Unfortunately, New Alice In Chains(r) still sounds a lot like old Jerry Cantrell (from his Degradation Trip days, in particular). While Cantrell and DuVall's harmonizing is reminiscent of the formidable glory days of the band, DuVall just hasn't brought the kind of substance and style to the band that Staley did. While they can somewhat capture the sound of the original lineup, their new work just hasn't managed to live it up to the incomparable quality of their earlier albums, much less transcend it.

Has Megadeth actually made a decent album since "Rust in Peace?"

I love AIC, but this album was the toughest from them for me to like. It took me 5 spins to appreciate it, never happened that with any AIC.

First listen, I thought it was shit, very disappointed, every song sounded the same, same tempo, same riffs.

Gave it another shot, I started to like some songs, specially the opener and Pretty Done, still think the "acoustic" songs don't work so well.

3rd time, I really started to like most songs and almost love the song TDPDH, still was thinking about why these songs are so long, could have definitely use a better edit.

4rd time and I'm really getting most of the songs, understanding them, and thinking maybe the long songs are OK, I don't find them tedious any more and really think the choruses and breaks pay off the long or repetitive verses. I fin myself longing for another spin.

5th time and I LOVE this record, favorite song is TDPDH, I like every song, but I wish DuVall had more lead vocals, he is really good. Definitely is their hardest record to digest and I don't know how these songs will work live, but this was a fine damn good of a job from AIC.

This album doesn't quite match their previous release but it's no slouch. Definitely worth the wait and $ spent.
