Night Train to Terror Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome 10/8/13

Vinegar Syndrome are releasing Night Train to Terror as a Blu-ray + DVD Combo on 10/8/13

http://vinegarsyndrome.com/launch/?product=night-train-to-terror-bddvd-combo

Quote:
Aboard a fast moving train bound for Hell, God and Satan decide the fates of three unfortunate mortals. In HARRY, a fiendish killer keeps the horribly mutilated body parts of his countless victims in a diabolical tourture chamber. In GRETTA, a young woman, obsessed with death, takes part in an unspeakable ritual of Russian roulette. Finally in CLAIRE, a young woman and a Holocaust survivor are terrorized by the son of Satan! NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR comes to you on home video for the very first time in its original aspect ratio and restored in 2k from 35mm film elements.

Directed by Jay Schlossberg-Cohen
1985 | Color | 93min | AR 1.85:1

Bonus Features:
+ Blu-ray & DVD Combo | Region Free | 1.85:1 AR | DTS-HD Master Audio
+ Restored in 2K from 35mm elements
+ Bonus feature film: GRETTA (DVD only / Sourced from 1″ Master)
+ Interview with Producer/Director Jay Schlossberg-Cohen
+ Interview with Assistant Editor Wayne Schmidt
+ Commentary track by The Hysteria Continues
+ Theatrical trailer
Pre-order at Amazon.

I really wish it was The Nightmare Never Ends (a.k.a. Cataclysm), which this film uses a ton of footage from...but this will suffice. Troma will likely never release that film in a decent edition.

All aboard as another favorite hits blu -- it's the totally off-the-rails oddball anthology NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR (1985), courtesy of Vinegar Syndrome! An omnibus condensation of three obscure horrors, this trashy trifecta finds God and Satan cruising the titular transport as some '80s synth rockers rehearse the same damn song for all eternity. A trio of souls are evaluated; the first tale centers around a nuthouse organ harvester, the second finds some suicidal folks entering an elaborate and ever-escalating variation of Russian Roulette, and the final segment involves reincarnated Nazis trying to bring about a demonic apocalypse. Or something. Gory decapitations, bad kung fu, stop-motion monsters, exploding heads -- it doesn't make much sense, but you won't care. Trust me.

Remastered from a 35mm positive, Vinegar Syndrome also tack on some interviews, a fan commentary from The Hysteria Continues, and even one of the films originally sliced up for inclusion: GRETTA aka DEATH WISH CLUB! An easy contender for my Top Ten of 2013 list. "Everybody's got somethin' to do... Everybody but you!"

VS brings us another 80's oddity to the digital format. As much as I love seeing my favorite films make the jump from DVD to hi-def, I just get more satisfaction when companies bring these type of films out of obscurity.

This movie is crazy... I only watched the Prism VHS once, and I had a hard time following along. There seemed like a lot of random things going on. I remember the Cataclysm footage, cheesy 80's music and some pretty cool creature effects.

I am definitely looking forward to revisiting this one.

Wow, these reviews have convinced me to blind buy this one--sounds like my kind of trip!

For anyone else worried about paying so much for a blind buy: I found it at DVD Pacific for $15.73 with shipping (almost half of what Amazon is asking).
