This is a good point. I mean, there's stuff out there that was shot on video (and I don't mean digital, I mean actual videoTAPE) probably for less than a thousand dollars. I had to review some of these films for this site back in '01 and '02, and it was a chore to try to come up with some kind of redeeming value for these movies (contrary to what some of you might believe, I don't immediately try to hate everything I see).

And that was 10 years ago! In the time since, I'd imagine that a million more of these movies show up, what with digital cameras so accessible to everyone now.

Do these qualify as "worst of the worst"? Or are we looking for decently budgeted films that actually did get a theatrical run however brief? There's many different levels to bad cinema....

Cmon now, there's much worse movies then these. You're not trying to find some doo doo flicks very hard. Rhett, get 'em!

I stand by the Prom Night remake being some of the worst I've ever seen.
Detention makes the list for sure. Recently saw Death Shock too - that was craptacular.

SCREAM (1981) is the worst film I ever liked.

A Night to Dismember (1983)
Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
Zombie Lake (1981)
The Gore Gore Girls (1972) (I still love this one to death, though.)
Zombi 3 (1988)
Zombi 5: Killing Birds (1987) (?!)
Bloodsucking Freaks (aka The Incredible Torture Show) (1976)

And any Lifetime film from the 90s starring Meredith Baxter, Delta Burke, Mel Harris, Daphne Zuniga, or Valerie Bertinelli.

Mother's Day is annoying but I think it's one of the best Troma films.
I'll stand by what I said before. The When A Stranger Calls remake should bring cause for the invention of time travel in order to go back and undo the film altogether. There should have been criminal charges against all those involved with The Fog remake, from the head of the studio to the key grip.

Cabin Fever and the Zombieween abominations spring immediately to mind. Pancakes. Ugh.

I agree that both versions are horrible. Snobbish rich people vs. snobbish teens. Whoopity-doo! Some knucklehead refused to go to my website after reading my review of the original. So be it.

I can usually find something to like in just about every film, these two are the exceptions:

The Fog (Remake)
Prom Night (Remake)

Now this is tuff for me to choose because unlike other movie genres, I can always find something to like about horror movies, even the bad ones.

Having said that, I'm really , REALLY not a big fan of lost footage, shaky cam movies. POV is fine if it's done well (see the Maniac remake)

So I will have to say:

Diary of the Dead (sorry Mr. Romero, but I can't sit through that movie ever again)

V/H/S

Blairwitch Project
