Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Grindhouse and Planet Terror are on there? That's ridiculous. In any case...

Grindhouse (growing up in the 80's, this was the first double feature I'd ever seen. One of the best theatrical experiences of my life thus far)
[Rec]
The Mist
28 Weeks Later
Hostel: Part II

this year was actually a pretty big step up from 2006, for my money. While they may not be personal favorites, films like Sweeny Todd, 1408, 30 Days of Night, Paranormal Activity, and Dead Silence all had at least something to offer. And aside from 28 Weeks Later, which I'm really only lukewarm on, the other four on my list are pretty standout films as far as I'm concerned. Ones I enjoy much more than any of the films I picked in 2006.

I also really enjoyed My Name is Bruce and Rogue, from those that didn't make the cut. Rogue especially.

I didn't object as it was easier to pick my top 5.

Teeth would have beat out Sweeney Todd but alas it didn't make the cut.

I must have missed Inside - easily prefer that to Teeth.

I see the Mist is getting some love in this poll. I saw this in the theater with two friends and both of them walked out during the film they disliked it so much. I don't walk out during movies but I didn't care for it either. The funny thing is they didn't walk out at the same time. One left within the first hour and the other lasted about twenty minutes longer.

OK this might of been the best year of the last couple of decades, even been than 2005.

1.Inside (Shame it is not on the main list, it's going to be overlooked)
2.Paranormal Activity
3.Grindhouse
4.The Mist
5.[Rec]

I've always thought of 2007 as a decent year for horror. Nice to see the stats to go with it.

Something about 2007-2013 is so much strong than the previous decade and a half to me. This is the moment where we notice a change in films in general from the early 2000s, but fashion and music too. Gone is the faux-punk. Woohoo!

The Signal and Teeth both would have been in my top five if they made the list. In order of preference:

Paranormal Activity
[Rec]
The Mist
Hostel Part II
Halloween

Wow, this was tough. There were at least 9 movies on the list I loved, not to mention the couple that didn't make the list. Definitely one of the better years for the horror genre.

Trick 'r Treat
The Mist
[REC]
Grindhouse
Paranormal Activity
