I found MAN OF STEEL to be truly tedious and felt the leads had no chemistry.Seeing them again doesn't exactly excite me.As to Affleck,he seemed embarassed by starring in DAREDEVIL, unless the paycheck was HUGE I can't imagine why he would want in on this.I don't hate him as an actor (he was quite good in HOLLYWOODLAND,playing George Reeves, the actor who play Superman on T.V.) but I have been more intrigued by his directing in recent years.I'd rather see him helming this than starring in it.

I'd rather see Michael Shannon (General Zod in Man of Steel) play Batman instead of Affleck.

That pretty much sums up ALL of Snyder's films: way too much eye candy, not enough substance going on within.

I found Watchmen to be his best effort, but even that film isn't without some major faults.

As for Affleck donning the cowl....anybody remember that feeling when you first learned that Patrick Bateman was going to be the Dark Knight?...well, this is the exact opposite of that feeling.

I've seen every Batman film since '89 in the theaters... it looks like I'll finally be breaking that streak.

Damn straight. Michael Shannon is awesome. Even he couldn't pull off Bruce Wayne though, but Batman.....he'd nail it.

I still think it would have been interesting to see Joseph Gordon Levitt as Batman...

I'll give Affleck the benefit of doubt. We all need him to say, "I'm not wearing hockey pads!" to really see if he'll pass though.

This is an All Things Horror - General topic?

Maybe this thread would be better in All Other Things - Other - Movies section.

The World's Finest - Man of Steel & The Dark Knight

Is Man of Steel worth seeing at least for Michael Shannon as General Zod or is the entire movie forgettable?

It's worth seeing for Faora. And yes, Zod is pretty rad as is Jor-El

James Franco seems to be the current "it" actor, I'm surprised they didn't cast him.
Thank god Shia Lebouf isn't old enough to play Batman

I really enjoy Zach Snyder's films, especially Watchmen. That said, Man of Steel just seemed way too long. It was as though they combined both the first two Christopher Reeve films into one and threw in a Matrix Revolutions CGI ending (that also goes on forever). Michael Shannon is a highlight of the film, as is Amy Adams.

I can't really picture James Franco as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but I could see him playing a more comics-accurate version of the Joker, if the post-Heath Ledger moratorium on that character were ever to end.

age never stopped Hollywood from doing some horrible miscasting.

I'm sure I will see Man of Steel eventually. One of my co-workers already revealed to me a major Zod spoiler in the film. Obviously you both know what I'm talking about.

We do yes. The only thing I really didn't like about the film were the scenes on Krypton. It felt like an Avatar movie.
