Coinciding with this year's cicada-tennial, Philippe Mora's THE BEAST WITHIN (1982) molts its way to blu courtesy of Shout Factory! Seventeen-year-old Michael MacCleary suddenly comes down with a debilitating illness. The local doctors are baffled; thinking it could be something genetic, they turn to his parents, who harbor a secret of their own. It seems Mikey's dad may just be the insectoid swamp monster who assaulted mom the opening scene, and given a certain bug's cyclical gestation period, this puberty's going to get ugly. A good-and-gooey early '80s creature feature with a wildly over-the-top metamorphosis showstopper, THE BEAST WITHIN is exactly the type of movie that plays much better now than it did during its initial release. Full of pulpy ideas and gory practical fx, it deserves another chance, and I can't think of a better way to do so! "There's something inside Michael..."

Keep up with the latest release announcements at Cinema Arcana!

Beast within....fun movie, but some of the most excessive use of bladder effects ever. Easy purchase for me.

Longshot but I'd love to see some extras for Invasion of the Bee Girls.

Me too! Really enjoy this movie. I have the MGM Midnite Movies double feature & am pretty sure that it is cut. Hopefully that won't be the case with Shout Factory.

From the cover art work for Saturn 3, it appears it will still be the old cut version

Didn't know there was more than one version of Saturn 3. I saw it in the theater way back and have seen it a few times over the years, but it is the R rated cut. I cannot wait for the Blu-Ray of this one. And that Cult Movie Marathon Vol. 2!! It took me years to track down a copy of Chatterbox. I actually have an old 16mm trailer of it and wanted to see it after running the trailer. I actually rented it pay per view in a hotel room one time and now I have a copy thanks to bit torrent, but will be happy to upgrade.

There is only an R rated cut of Saturn 3 listed on IMDB.

even though it was rated R, I don't recall it being overly gory or have lots of nudity. at least not in the (forbidden world) kinda way..

the germans have a full cut, its quite different with a lot of scenes added back in that the producers thought were going too far back in the day.
