Red face Doc of the Dead (Epix zombie documentary) 2014

I wanted to really like this. It has some wonderful people attached to the documentary (George A. Romero, Simon Pegg, Bruce Campbell, Max Brooks, Greg Nicotero, Tom Savini, Howard Sherman, John Harrison and many more). I feel though that it doesn't cover the evolution of zombies over the past 50 years well. Romero gets the bulk of the interview, and credit (naturally). Videogames are mentioned, but not extensively. The interpretation of zombies through the eyes of the children, zombie walks, zombie TV commercials, zombie marriages, zombie merchandise for the apocalypse, Walking Dead porn spoofs, musical montages and reenactments aren't my thing. Too much time was covered on the Haitian zombie after the subject had been introduced early on (during White Zombie). Resident Evil and Zombieland are graced with their respective posters only. Walking Dead, 28 Days Later and World War Z get mentioned often (nothing for 28 Weeks Later), as do the first four Romero Dead films and Shaun of the Dead. Return of the Living Dead gets mentioned briefly. Many classics aren't mentioned at all, nor are any of the remakes. It just seems very uneven. It would have been better in my opinion to break down the zombie films by decade in relation to what the world was going through at that point of time. 2.5 out of 5 stars.
