haha Do you mean literally the worst movies, or like Burial Ground or Pieces as in so bad they are good? If you mean the latter, that is definitely something we plan on doing, if the former, I wouldn't know where to start?

Doing an episode on the Leprechaun films would be pretty close, even if a few of them are worth a watch, most of them are pretty tough to get through. There are so many terrible films that aren't even worth the time sitting through, I don't know if we hate ourselves enough yet to put ourselves through several outright awful films for two weeks.

Almost finished the Prom Night episode. I've never listened to a podcast before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, or if I'd enjoy it at all. Turns out I do. Radio voices or not, you both come across quite well. Genuine and unpretentious. I liked the casual feel. I don't think I would have liked it if either of you were hamming it up or trying too hard to be funny or whatever. It sounded very natural (which is more impressive now that I know that some parts of it were re-recorded material - I wouldn't have guessed).

I don't mind the length, either, as I have an hour drive to work each way.

I know you've got a little boy now, I think around the same age as my girl, so I'm doubly impressed that you're able to find the time and energy to do something like this. The time it must take to watch the movies, then record the show, then edit it together would be daunting to me. If I can watch a movie in a single sitting these days, I consider it a minor miracle. So good for you. I'll definitely be listening to the rest.

Oh, and I must say that, based on your writing style and comments on these boards, I was pretty certain I knew which of the two voices was yours. Turns out I was right.

Thanks for the very kind comments guys!

As Shannafey already mentioned, Episode 4 is now up where we talk about some of the better Scarecrow films out there. As for Oct., we will be recording an episode every week and just chatting about all the horror movies we are watching throughout the month. Last year we each did 50+, so we hope to cover a lot of movies. That being said, it will done more in of the "what we've beee watching" style, so episodes shouldn't clock in much more than an hour I would assume. We also hope to record some friends talking about their favourite horror films and we will be doing various top 5 lists throughout the month ourselves. It should be a lot of fun!

If anyone wants to create a Top 5 (It doesn't have to be top 5 favourite movies, creative lists would be great as well!) list for us to read or play on the show, feel free to send us an e-mail or mp3 to horrorandmorepodcast@gmail.com. Since we are still so new and have no feedback haha it will definitely get played on the show! And if possible give a few sentences of explanation why such and such film is important to you so it's not just another list.

As for finding time Dave, it's tough! I get up every morning at 7am and don't get home from work until 9:30pm, so I usually don't start a movie until 10pm at the earliest. It is hard to finish a movie in one night, let alone two movies! That being said, right now I don't have much of a life other then my family, work and watching movies so, getting together with a friend once every two weeks to record a podcast for a few hours isn't too bad. Getting it all started was craziness, but now that we are up and running it's not too time consuming. I'm sure there will be times though that we deliver an episode a week late or something, but hey, what can you do?

Totally agree! Really enjoying it. I listen to a lot of podcasts regularly (my commute is 35-60 min depending on the day). A lot I've heard are amateurish, some are very professional. A lot of my regular ones aren't very regular anymore, so I've been looking for alternatives. Definitely found one I enjoy. I didn't know you had kids. Your life sounds like mine and I'm really surprised you can do this as well! I have 3 kids and a job that requires a lot of hours. I've been trying to review for some sites and it has been difficult. Doing a podcast would be fun, but a major chore. I appreciate you doing it and will continue to listen!

I'm just starting the Hills Have Eyes episode. Still enjoying it quite a bit. A couple of random thoughts:

- I saw Prom Night 3 and 4 maybe ten years ago, but your plot summaries showed me that i actually remember virtually nothing about them. I'd even completely forgotten that part 3 was a direct sequel to part 2. Even listening to your summary, none of it sounded familiar. weird.

- I cannot express how dismayed i was to find out that Jeffrey Jones is a sex offender. Possession of child porn and all that. Goddamn. I was listening to it in the car and when you guys started your run down on Stay Tuned I actually cried out "Oh no. Awww fuck!" So upsetting to hear. I had no idea. I love him in so many of the movies he was in. The idea that Edward R. Rooney, Dean of Students, and Charles Deetz is a....I don't even want to say it. ugh.

- I'm half-heartedly thinking of starting a drinking game. Every time your co-host makes a reference to "drinking some beers" while watching a movie, I will drink an entire beer. I guess I'd have to stop listening in the car, though...

Again guys, you are way too kind! I am editing the first episode for our weekly October marathon of movies. I hope to have it up sometime tomorrow, so hopefully you guys will like it. I know there's definitely room for improvement, and I still tend to get lost in my thoughts and blurt out nonsense, but I feel we are slowly getting a little better. Hopefully by Jan. we will have really nailed the formula and be comfortable enough to not sound like complete fools haha.

I will admit getting it started is a lot of work, but once you are up and running it's not too bad. If you have any interest, go for it! It takes up a bit of your time, but it's a lot of fun as well.

Yeah we made a joke of the Jeffrey Jones thing but it's really not that funny, especially now that I have a son. I'm sure like many people my age, I grew up with him in several of my favourites, so it was a little disheartening to find that out about him. It's like when I found out the sexual abuse that happened to Corey Haim and Feldman, just gives you chills and makes you feel sick to your stomach.

And yeah, my friend definitely loves drinking haha. He works at a brewery and has a been fridge in his house so... I barely drink anymore, just no time or money, but when I do it's probably at his house. I do really enjoy the pumpkin beers he brews this time of the year!

Been a while, so I thought I'd do a little bit of a shameless plug here. We recently released our episode where we discuss our Top 10 favourite horror movies, and overall films of 2013. I will put up my list on here as well, but since I've been lazy, here it is in audio form. Obviously I'm bias, but I feel this is one of our better episode and a good spot for newcomers to jump in!

You can download or stream the episode here:

or

Subscribe to us on iTunes!

Also, we would appreciate if you helped get the word out by liking us on Facebook

https://www.facebook.com/HorrorAndMorePodcast

or following us on Twitter

We have lots of exciting episodes coming up including: Our Thoughts on the Films of 2014, Valentines Day horrors, Harryhausen Sinbad, Zombies, Hitchcock, Godzilla and other big monster films, more Anthology goodness and much more. As always, feel free to throw us out some suggestions.

Thanks guys, and once again, sorry for the shameless plug!

This podcast is great. Listened to lots of it over the past couple of weeks. The Prom Night special and the Shocktober stuff. Also, the recent top ten stuff which was very cool. I prefer longer shows like this that I can play while I'm cleaning up my place or cooking, etc.

Awesome, thanks for checking us out guys! I know it's asking a lot for people to drop 2-3 hours of their time and listen to us chat nonsense, but again, it's much appreciated! We still don't have a large following (As it's hard to stand out from the thousands of other horror podcasts) hence the lack of e-mails, but it has definitely been slowly growing which is always nice to see.

If you have any questions or comments or suggestions, feel free to e-mail us at horrorandmorepodcast@gmail.com. You will be guaranteed to make it on the show haha. Also, if anyone has a min. or two to spare, please leave us feedback on iTunes. Apparently the feedback is one of the factors iTunes uses to decide how high or low you are on the search list, so any feedback would definitely help us! And once again, thanks!

It must be difficult to gauge something like that. I imagine with something like iTunes they may tell you how many times you've been downloaded, but I've always got it directly from the site. Can you tell how often it's been downloaded from there?

Also, don't treat the lack of feedback as an indicator that you don't have any kind of a following. I'm enjoying it quite a bit, but for the most part I'm just content to listen - there's really not much contribution I could make that would justify an email or a comment.

The tracking tells me how many times it has been downloaded from anywhere, be it our site or iTunes.

There are two types of tracking, downloads, and unique downloads. The downloads number is usually a lot larger, but doesn't really mean anything as if someone had trouble downloading it and it took three tries to download it, it would come up as 3 downloads. So I only look at unique downloads. The only bad thing about using this measure, is if several people downloaded it using the same connection, ie. at a college or work, then it would only show up as 1 download. It still gives you the best estimate though.

But yeah, as long as the numbers for each episode stay steady or grow, I'm happy! I guess that doesn't really prove people are actually listening to it, but it's good enough for me. I'm not a glory hog or anything though, I hope I don't sound like that. We don't expect fame or money from this, that would just be silly, and we never did this to gain any of that. It was truthfully started for our own selfish reasons, to make us watch a lot of movies, and to get together and talk about them afterwards. If we can get a decent little community growing and people are actually listening and enjoying it, then I am totally pleased!

And yeah, I agree with you about e-mails. I have been listening to several podcasts for years, and have only sent one e-mail in my lifetime. It would be a nice little add on for the show though, just to add some different voices or point of views (Probably much more intelligent than ours haha), but it is something that will probably take some time to achieve. A lot of the podcasts that have constant e-mails have been at it a long time, and most likely started before there were well over 200 million options to choose from! I know I usually don't even bother checking out a podcast until I see they have enough consistently released episodes to show that they are serious about it. There are way too many choices out there to waste time checking out a podcast that is going to quit after two episodes, or only release an episode every 6 months or so, so again, I am very pleased with our listenership thus far. And again, if I haven't already said it enough, thanks to anyone that has wasted a few hours with us!
