THE SHADOW got bumped to 2/25/14. I don't remember being a big fan, but maybe I'll give it another chance.

I've always been a fan of The Shadow's comics and radio plays, but the 90s movie left me cold. They turned it into a generic superhero action film when it should have been more Noir. I think that the dark subject matter would be handled a lot better today.

Modern audiences might not be as interested since the book and film came out long before Ballard relocated the wreck. The Clive Cussler book is superior, but I wouldn't call the film adaptation "boring" for an early 80's film. It's basically a treasure hunting movie... and it has that great John Barry score.

I'm starting to notice lately that more and more horrordigital members find movie from the 80s boring. So that's it. I now declare myself officially Over the Hill. And you know what? I'm actually fine with that if it means that I have an elongated attention span.

Quick editing, shaky camera, bad CGI, etc... I'll personally take the bulk of 80's films (good and bad) over a lot of the popular films of today.

Don't forget the poster art with a three-point-landing pose, gray-blue-orange washed out photography and "gritty/brooding" lead character.
I, too, take the bulk of 80's and 90's films over what is trending now in cinema too.

I suspect most people who say they find 80's movies boring are young'uns, 90's children, people brought up on Buffy and MTV. You can easily tell who they are - they're the ones who suggest they can do without character and story development and want to go straight to the action. Now that's boring. That's why most modern films don't work - everything is one set piece after the other. No sense of geography, no suspense build-up. By the way, is it just me or has the last 3 months been the worst in terms of really good movies? The only 2 movies I saw were Hobbit 2 and 12 Years A Slave. I thought everything else was junk. What happened to Monuments Men?
