Hmm. That really stinks about the image quality. This was obviously a Universal job, too bad they couldn't get a better master.

I wonder how the German release stacks up. It's cool that Shout added some great new features but it still sucks they couldn't get ahold of the old DVD's extras.

The german release seems to have the same transfer and all the bonus features from the old disc. But none of the new stuff from the SF release

Never got into Cat People, remember seeing it a lot on cable in 1983. but after that I think I caught it once on TBS all edited and it didn't move me at all.. Maybe it was more interesting when I saw it on the movie channel cause I was 11 and it was rated R . So I rented it on dvd about 8 yrs ago and didn't hold up for me at all..

Just got the German Blu-ray of Cat People (or Katzenmenschen). Not watched it all yet but had a flick through and the transfer looks fine, not perfect but I didn't see any major problem.

Just got my copy of Cat People in the mail. As mentioned, the slipcover is sealed to the blu-ray.

I thought Shout (Scream) has said that they don't use DNR. Did I misread that or did something change?

Universal is known to use it...heavily at times. The master was probably handed that way to Shout.

I never cared much for Cat People personally, but that HD transfer looks like smoothed wax!
