Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013)

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013)

Directed by Adam Mckay
7.5/10
After 9 years the team who brought us the now legendary Anchorman film have thrown their hat into the risky sequel realm. I am happy to report that for the most part they have succeeded. The story picks up in the early 80's where San Diego's top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy, returns to take New York's first 24-hour news channel by storm. Right out of the gate we are straight back into the thick of it with non stop hilarity for the first half hour. The film slows down for a while in the middle and perhaps could've been edited back a little. In the end it goes way over the top and has way too many cameos but its a blast all the same. The only cameo that really doesn't work is the inclusion of

Kanye West
who was terrible. Also with the official word that the film will be released in a 2nd version with exactly the same story but with 400 of the jokes switched to alternate ones, we should have enough Anchorman to last us another 9 years.

I saw it last night. Enjoyed it quite a bit although it felt a little long. Gonna try to catch it again in another week to see how it holds up.

"By the hymen of Olivia Newton-John!"

Definitely should have had 25 mins cut out of the middle but still was way better than could've been expected for a belated sequel
