Brian Yuzna's Society Blu-ray (Second Sight) 3/31/14

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=13029

Independent British distributors Second Sight Films have detailed their upcoming Blu-ray release of director Brian Yuzna's Society (1989), starring Billy Warlock, Devin DeVasquez, Ben Meyerson, and Evan Richards. The release will be available for purchase online and in shops across the United Kingdom on March 31.

But the partying takes a turn for the weird when Billy is shown a video tape of his family getting up to some truly sick activities at a party, and Billy is about to step into the nightmarish and surreal world behind the facade of Hollywood hi-society.

Special Features:
  • Limited Slipcase Packaging for Blu-Ray with newly commissioned artwork by Graham Humphreys
  • New Audio Commentary with Director Brian Yuzna
  • Governor Of Society with Brian Yuzna
  • The Masters Of The Hunt with stars Billy Warlock, Devin Devasquez (pictured), Ben Meyerson And Tim Bartell
  • The Champions Of The Shunt with FX Artists Screaming Mad George, David Grasso and Nick Benson
  • Screaming Mad George music video
And yes, this is a UK release. It's up for pre-order at Amazon UK.

It's supposed to be based on the same new 4K master transfer, so probably so.

They said this back on 12/23 via Facebook:

SOCIETY is coming!!! We're pleased to finally set a date of 31.03.14 for the SOCIETY Blu-ray, region B.
So I would assume it will be Region B locked.

...and here's Devin Devasquez being filmed for the extras on the release:

Kinda weird that a British company came up with that US flag artwork. Almost feels like they're mocking us or something. Or a m I missing something?

Why is that weird? The film is about an upper class American "society", who hold influential personal and political ties, so the flag being displayed prominently is in theme with the film, which is a complete satire on American politics and classism.

You're probably reading it correctly - I would assume that it's meant cynically. I wouldn't take it too personally though, if you're someone who is inclined to be on the patriotic side. American patriotism and the reverence for the flag comes across as a little heavy-handed to most non-Americans, so that's likely what they're poking fun at.

I think the previous post offers a better explanation to the use of the American flag than yours.

I'd love to know the proper explanation for the delay. They were pretty airy-fairy about the whole thing in that post.
