Question Weird karate/zombie/skin flick... anybody know this one?

This is a double post from the T&A thread. After posting it, I thought it needed more exposure if I had any chance of getting an informative response. Read on my friends...

Man, I once saw this killer movie from Korea, or somewhere in the east anyway. It had these karate masters/wizards that were duking it out. The one had the famous "hopping vampires" on his side, and the other had the usual good guy karate brothers/clan on his. It also had some major skin shots and sexual situations. The funny as shit thing about it is that in every "git down" shot, there was some prop that was just obscuring the penetration view. The funniest shot had a vase with, like, one flower doing the trick. It was sooo obvious! I really miss that show! I couldn't tell you the name as I rented it at some bootleg video rental shop in a very Asian saturated part of town. I mean, the counter help stares you down when you go in and don't want to help you at all. For a while there, I just kept going on a weekly basis and they finally got used to me... a little. Anyway, I think the place is out of business now, and I'd really like to find this flick again. Anybody else out there come across anything like this before?

Mr Vampire. There is a whole series of them. Pretty fun films. For some reason they always refer to the hopping zombies as vampires, but they are definitely more zombie than vampires...

You can get the first one on DVD from Amazon

That is very, very, very close. I'm gonna have to pick that one up just because of the three good reviews I just read on it. However, it seemed that the one I saw was a little older, and none of the reviews said Mr. Vampire had gratuitious nudity and sex. I don't think this is "the one", but it looks like a winner none-the-less. Maybe the one I saw could've been one of the sequels, but I really do think it was from the '70's. Thanks for the quick response Napalm. You certainly are up on your dvds!

Mr Vampire with T&A. Hmm. Pre Mr Vampire? Mr Vampire is 1985. Do you recall any of the actors? Was it an intentionally funny film, like Mr Vampire?

Ah - I think I know: Sammo Hung's Close Encounters of the Spooky Kind. There was a sequel for it too. I think they had T&A. Sammo Hung rules. I think I know too much about Hong Kong Horror... Say have you seen that Chinese live action remake of the Japanese Anime "Wicked City". The Spider Woman was great! I can't recall the name though.

You know, I bet Mr Vampire is just a bad translation, I bet it is Undead Master, or something, and as a lot of people refer to Vampires as the Undead, the person who did the translation stuffed it up for eternity. Ah, according to IMDB, the literal translation for the title is Mr Stiff Corpse. Damned if I know what idiot gave it a Vampire title. Most misleading.

Those two Sammo Hung Flicks are Encounters of a Spooky Kind, and Spooky Encounters. I dont remember which one it was but that one with the scene where Sammos fighting those possessed bad guys with the bench is the all time shit!!! You gotta love the old school dew as well.

Thumbs up

Sorry Napalm, you caught me napping. As for Close Encounters, I'm definitely going to have to seek that one out too. Stop making suggestions, my "to rent" list is getting unmanageable! But seriously, I don't think the great Sammo was involved in my movie. I think that the story is somewhat an Asian legend, and has probably been done by various people, and Asian cinema, as I'm sure you know, is a pretty big cluster-fuck to wade through. Thanks, you've given me two very solid titles to look forward to, but I think I'll just have to head back to Chinatown and see if my store is still in existance and brave the clientelle once again.
