Sam Goody and Suncoast Horror Deals

I have seen several posts on this forum regarding deals at Suncoast, but the one near me never seems to have anything that I read about. I went to a Sam Goody at a mall about 20 miles from my house today and I saw a copy of Mario Bava's Shock. It was only $10, so I figured, what the heck, I had wanted to see it anyway. When the salesman rung it up at the counter, it was only $3. So, I guess some of these deals aren't advertised. My suggestion is to bring some of the Anchor Bay stuff up to the counter and have them ring it up to see if it is cheaper. Might get the salesperson pissed, but hey. Believe it or not, the salesperson at Sam Goody told me to do that, but they really didn't have much more at that particular store.

This just happened to me today at Suncoast. I saw a lone copy of The Boogeyman/ Devonsville Terror for 2.99. It was actually a remnant of the great Anchor Bay specials that Suncoast/Sam Goody and others ran back in 2001. It doesn't surprise me that a few will continue to be found.

Suncoast has always been good for cheapie discs. I used to love rummaging through their "Under $15" section cause I knew I would find at least a few discs that I wanted for cheap. I just wish that their other discs were regularly priced lower than the high ass MSRP they use on every DVD in the store.

If it weren't for that section, I would never grace their doorstep. There's a Circuit City right outside the mall, and a Best Buy not much further away. It amazes me with that kind of competition how they still keep their prices so high. They are sometimes as much as $10 higher than the others. The AB Beyond tin was selling for $15 at Best Buy, while they still had it for $40. CRAZY!! My wife went in their one time to buy me a dvd and mentioned the price difference, and the manager gave it to her cheaper. I think it was because a pretty lady(Yes, I am biased when it comes to my wife) asked, because when I asked he said they couldn't do it.

I couldn't agree more. It's one thing if you are the only shop around that area, but when a BEST BUY or CIRCUIT CITY is next door, you'd think they'd give that specific store a break on how low they can sell.

Still, i'm also still amazed that there are still some freaks who don't shop around and will just go into SUNCOAST and buy what they need regardless of price.

So if SUNCOAST has the idiot who pays $39.99 for a typical DVD, I guess they might as well keep their prices where they are at.

You're probably right, MISFITZ. Not all DVD buyers are like us fanatics on this forum, who have to shop around, or we'd blow our life savings on the things.
