Abel Ferrara's "Ms. 45"

Hey guys, wondering if someone can help or shed some light on "Ms. 45". I recently purchased the Image DVD of the film. It's completely barebones but the transfer is astonishing. Gorgeous, crisp and clear and for a film that's over 20 years old, it seems like it was filmed yesterday. Anyway, the Image DVD lists a runtime of 80 minutes though I'm not too sure this is a completely uncut print. There seems to be mention around the net of a longer version that's anywhere between 84 and 90 minutes and talk of specific scenes missing. So, does anyone know the deal with the Image disc and what the actual runtime is for the film? Also, is there a version somewhere in the world that's on DVD and completly uncut? Thanks for your help.

I've checked with IMDB and this is what they have to say:

The US DVD, released by Artisan, features a cut version of the film. The two rape scenes were trimmed, the second even misses some dialogue ("This oughta make you talk, huh?"). The murder of the guy in the yellow T-shirt at the Halloween party shoot-out is now offscreen.

......

The British video release, on Warner's Maverick Director's label, was cut by 1m 42s by the BBFC. Early copies of this version, released in 1997, were accidentally mastered with the uncut version. These were quickly recalled and replaced with the BBFC approved version, but some uncut copies were sold - they can be identified by the code on the spine of the tape (082897). The cuts were made to the rape scenes and a dismemberment scene. The use of a set of nunchukas was also removed.

The Image DVD is the cut "R" rated version. The unrated, uncut release was issued on VHS by Complete Entertainment and USA Video. I haven't heard anything about an uncut DVD release.

Good movie! It is sad that the actress playing the mute died 2 years ago at age 35.

Ms 45 is one of the all time greatest revenge films, and its a shame the DVD is only the R rated cut. I'd buy it uncut in a heartbeat. Wish someone would release it intact.

Thanks very much guys! It's too bad the DVD is the R rated version that's cut. I guess it will do for now especially considering how gorgeous the transfer is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a complete version DVD some day!

I don't have the DVD, I have the uncut version on VHS. This is a great film, has one of my favorite lines in any movie too:

"All women do is laugh, and sing, and say words like "pussy"!"

Or something like that, I haven't watched it in a couple of years.

Wow... Necromancing a thread from 11 years ago. Score!

The good people at Death Waltz records will be releasing the score to Ms. 45 (its first official release ever!)

I finally got around to seeing this film recently and consider it my favorite of Abel Ferrara's films... and the end credits 'Dance Party' theme had me grooving long after the credits had rolled.

Death Waltz has also been generous enough to post that very track up on Sound Cloud for all to hear! Sounds great!

Actually the French release is the way to go. It's currently the only print in circulation that is fully uncut. The second audio track contains the English audio track.
