Hey everyone, was curious what everyone's opinion is for the definative "most violent" PG rated movie. I'm only looking for answers that pertain to the MPAA rating.
I've seen quite a few PG films that seem a bit too violent for such a rating, but I must give my vote to Raiders of the Lost Ark as the most violent I've seen. I mean just look at everything that happens in that film.....fist fights, shootings, imploding head, exploding head, face melted, impalings, death by airplane blade, electrocutions, stabbings.....and oh yes, a poisoned monkey. Reads like a true horror laundry list of deaths. Please, no PG-13 entries.

Raiders is a damn fine choice.
I'd nominate that other Spielberg classic - Jaws.
Also Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom The Spy Who Loved Me |

Anyway, the new Star Wars EP. 2 was quite violent. Quite a few heads came off!!! |

I just watched JAWS the other night and was blown away by how much blood and carnage were allowed in this "PG" movie. Man, those were the days, eh?
BUT... my pick for most violent "PG" movie ever has to go to Sam Peckinpah's THE KILLER ELITE! Aside from the ending, where what seems like dozens of ninjas get mowed down, this movie features one of the most memorably cruel shootings I've ever seen! |

Oddly enough, on the back of Universal's DVD, JAWS is rated PG-13. This is the only instance I can remember when a movie has been re-rated.

I think that the meanings of the ratings have changed over time, so this is a tricky question. If Jaws was released today, it would not be PG.
I just got back from Episode 2: AOTC and I'm surprised that was only PG; some of the violence is pretty intense. |

Sweet bunnies... having their throats ripped out onscreen! And the scene where Bigwig (I think) is caught in the trap and his mouth foams and bleeds... intense stuff! Who cares if it's a cartoon! And it's a fine movie to boot...

Some throat slashings in the PG rated "Let's Scare Jessica To Death". Not very violent but still kinda bloody.

He said no PG-13's. Oops! My bad. The UK release was a PG, though, as we didn't (and still don't!) have PG-13s... The UK version of Temple was slightly trimmed, though! As was AOTC. |

Did everyone forget about Poltergeist and Swamp Thing? The face tearing scene in Poltergeist would have easily made it at least PG-13 today. And Swamp Thing, even though its the unrated intl. version on the disc, is rated PG. Even without the nudity it wouldnt get that today.

Temple of Doom and Gremlins both were PG and inspired the PG-13 MPAA rating SO THERE!!!!

Cheers, Chucky P for confirming my suspicions!
I remember Temple of Doom really upsetting some parents due to the dark nature of the film. I loved it to bits - I actually enjoyed this film more than Raiders and Last Crusade. Excellent, edge-of-the-seat viewing!

A movie (tho not horror) that pushed the PG rating was airplane. there was a sene where a chick ran in front of the camera with her tits flopping and theres a scene where it looked like that chick was giving the blow up a BJ. another movie would be bad news bears.

I remember seeing one in the theater back in the 70's that made me quite ill to the stomach and I know I was under 18 at the time, so it must've been PG:
