Luna,
Are you saying you allready got the set and that is what it is like, or are you refering to something else in 3D? I was seriously thinking of getting the set but if it is like what you were discussing then I want not part of it at all. Max |

The 3-D set you want to buy sounds very interesting, even if I don't know what the quality of the actual movies is. I'd be curious to know, if anyone buys it when it comes out, how good it is.

Luna,
Wow I am glad to hear that. I was thinking of getting the 3D set and thought I could not put up with that kind of stuff. Max |

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm wondering if anyone bought this set yet?!?
I'm eyeing the one at Best Buy.... |

I have it and it's well worth the money. My only complaint is the wires on the glasses are a pain. One day I'll invest in some wireless glasses.
Other than that, the 3-d effects are really impressive. |

Just a word of advice for those with HD TVs. The field sequential system will not work. Here is a quote from Ross Rainville of i-O Display systems:
"In addition to the progressive scan, HDTV, Plasma, LCD, and most projection systems refresh their [images] in a random manner which makes it impossible for our H3D system to synchronize to their signal." This was a very nice reply to an email question which I addressed to the company after upgrading my TV and finding that the 3D system would no longer work. Happy shopping! |

Hey all...
I read through this entire post, and i still didnt see a cut and dry review of the field-sequential 3d system box set from best buy -- is it worth it? Is it some high quality 3d imaging? I have a 60 inch non-hdtv set -- i am kinda curious.. Thanks, Matt |

OK I did not get the Horror Set but did get the other 3D set with the Imax films Alien Adventure Haunted House and some other DVD.
The 3D stuff works very well. As for the HDTV and 3D. I have a 50" Non HD set in the bedroom (Heck I wasn't going to junk it when I got the HD set) and a 73" Mits 73907 in the main room. I had figured there would be problems with the HD set and had just used it in the bedroom. Someone on Home Theater Talk asked if I would try it out on my HD set and report back. So here is what I found when using a 73907 with a Sony 9000ES DVD player and what worked best. It was suggested to me that using a non-Prog-Scan out from the player to the TV would be best. Also that setting the TV to 960I rather then 480P would be better. That is just a control of the lTVs Line Doubler. So I tried it with the TV set to 960I and a non prog output from the DVD player and setting the Video mode to video, things worked OK they did not look good when I switched the TFs double to film mode in any of the different setups It was always best to leave on video. Then I tried it with the TVs line doubler ser to 480P and it became a little messy and smeared looking through the glasses. Then I took the TVs line doubler out of the equation and tried running the DVD player in Progressibe mode which bypasses the TVs doubler and it looked the best of all. So in actual testings it did not look bad on my HDTV but you need to show it in 4x3 mode and not some stretched mode or it won't look right. My Player can put black bars on the sides which I felt looked better then the TVs gray bars. (I know about burn in issues) So I thought that might help those with HD sets to decide. I mean it might not work perfect on your set up but there is a chance it will look good and if you have a non HD set you might wanna risk it. Now I just want to find the 3 D horror movies. Max |
