Did anyone catch the film Fever directed by Alex Winter? Yes, that Alex Winter. It stars Henry Thomas from ET. It's really impressive for a small budget film. This is actually one of the best, more surreal psychological horror films I've seen lately. It builds in a quiet, dark mood that unsettles from first frame to last. I caught it about 2 months ago at the Screening Room in a theatre about the size of my living room. It was well worth it, too. Mr. Winter was even there to introduce his film, short winded as his "introduction" was. I thought I'd pass on the good word since the DVD comes out this month. Definitely check it out.

I have this on order, as I have heard that it is rather interesting and that the nightmare sequences are quite inspired. I'm not too sure what the exact plot or premise is so sadly it's a blind purchase for me. With the lack of mainstream interest in it I am pretty certain that it will get limited distribution and I dodn't particularly want to trapse all over Hell's Acres to find it. I do hope it is worth the price of admission.

I won't tell you what it's about, but I will tell you it's worth having. The sets and mood are just awesome.

I saw this film a couple of years ago at the midnight madness section of the Toronto fest, with Winter and Thomas present.
There is a scene that really sent a chill up the collective spine of those present. Worth seein'. |

And on the topic of Alex Winter movies, where the hell is his funny ass film FREAKED on DVD? It is a must. I just watched it again the other day and have to say that it's even funnier now that I'm a bit older.
