Exclamation Tox Box

I just went to Best Buy today and I was surprised to see the TOXIC AVENGER box set. I haven't kept up on the news of it but I was pretty sure it wasn't coming out for a while. So I picked it up. I like it. Anyone else get it?

Later all...

Really. What's in it? The first 3 or has the fourth finally come out? How much was it? I might pick it up if it's on the cheap.

It was the first three and the Toxic Crusaders movie. I think it was around $40. Not a great deal I guess but it's not unreasonable. They sell for what $10 each the cheapest at Best Buy by themselves and the Toxic Crusaders movie isn't being sold alone. I don't know if these are new dvds or the same old ones. I think they are different from the standalone releases but I'm not an expert on Toxie. Maybe someone else knows.

I saw one at my local BB for $34, not too bad. I may have to pick it up and turn in my copies of Toxie 1 and 2 to the Wherehouse. The 4th disc seems pretty cool too.

i read that toxie 4 will be released later as a SE and that the Toxie 2 dvd (and the one in the box set) is the cut version. i have a bootleg VHS copy of toxie 2 from japan. hell of a lot gorier than the american version. but fortunately troma is releasing another dvd of toxie 2 in the future that is titled "The Real Director's Cut". maybe they listened to me when i complained about this to this troma guy and the big guy with glasses (who appears in troma movies like terror firmer) at the icon convention in ny. if i was you guys i'd wait for those releases before buying the box set because i have a feeling we'll be seeing yet another box set down the road.

I just bought this a few days ago while on vacation. 34 bux for 4 dvds is quite good IMO, I still havnt watched them yet tho. the 3 movies each say unrated directors cut on them...it also says somewhere on the box that the toxic crusader cartoon that is included wont be sold seperately.

I'll probably get citizen toxie when it comes out and put it in the box instead of the cartoon

I went to best buy again and looked at the seperate Toxie 2 disc and the spine is different from the one in the box set. On the Toxie 2 spine from the set it says "Tackling Toxic Troubles from Tromaville to Tokyo" and it doesn't say that on the standalone disc. Eh.

Angry GAAAH! Confusion!

Ok... I just bought this fine set today. I will go home tonight, put in Toxie 2, and I will post here as to which version is in the set. Troma's own message board claims that the "Really, We Swear to God That This Is the Uncut Version" (aka: the Japanese cut) disc is in the box. Yes, the spine art is different from the standalone disc. I will see tonight as to what is on it.

On a different note, there are some interesting extras on the Toxic Crusaders disc. Chapter 1 of the classic Commander Cody serials "Radar Men from the Moon" and "Undersea Kingdom" are included! Hmmm... did Troma have no other "kid friendly" extras to toss in?

Gracias Jog. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to even open the set up (but I did watch The Stunt Man last night...awesome movie). And I never saw Toxie 2 before this so I wouldn't be able to tell the cut version from the uncut version.

YES YES YES!!!

I have just verified it: the Toxie 2 included in the Tox Box is indeed the "Super Gore Version" that the original release was not. Also of note: Lloyd Kaufmann has recorded a BRAND NEW commentary for this version, assisted by the Troma Editing Team. The original commentary was mostly Lloyd reading from his book anyhow... I can't wait to hear the new commentary. It begins with Lloyd saying something like "Welcome to Toxie 2 the director's cut... I think..." Should be good stuff. It also seems that the old commentary is NOT included... I dunno if this new disc will be released alone, but now there are TWO reasons to get the Tox Box!

Oh, and my moving cover fell off too.

And The Stunt Man rules the universe.

Well now that I know it's the true uncut #2 I guess I should try to pick this up tomorrow. Ugh, broke once again. But it'll be worth it.
