If you have an XBox it does the PAL/NTSC conversion flawlessly too.
I've got this version, but I'm less than happy with the transfer. Terribly hissy audio, piss-poor picture from a piss-poor source that's full of nicks and scratches and real lack of detail in the darker scenes (which for the most part are the scary ones).

That said, it's a cracking film and I'm glad I own it but I just wish that a company with an iota of professionalism had picked up the rights instead of Tartan.

Why hasn't "The Ring" gotten a proper R1 DVD release? It seems popular enough to warrant a release on these shores.

Is Dreamworks blocking its release because of their remake?

I dont know what the deal with it is, but I'd expect to see a good R1 copy of this after the remake comes out. More so if it does well at the box office.
