Unhappy Twin Peaks

God damn this sucks. I've seen the first season and I finally got it on DVD last week. Fucking great. I got the movie a while ago and watched that. Probably shouldn't have but I couldn't wait. Really good...even if a shitload of it didn't make any sense. I never saw the second season when it was on tv and I never got the tapes of it. Now I hear it won't be coming to DVD until 2003 and possibly broken up into two seperate sets. FUCK. I need to see the rest of the series...NOW! Well...as I can't do shit about it for now (I'm not buying tapes or LDs anymore) can anyone tell me if the movie makes more sense after you see the second season or is it just insane madness? That part with David Bowie is fucking weird as hell. As a side note...I'll be getting the Taiwanese disc of the pilot cause I hear it's really good. Is there anything new in it or is it kind of like a condensed first season?

Later all...

Let's see.

1. You DO want the pilot, however you get it. It really set up the show.

2. Don't get upset about not having season 2. It was really bad (at first). You know how the end of season 1 has all the plots and subplots converging? Well, in Season 2, instead of wrapping up ANY of them, they all diverge in completely convoluted directions, and they actually kind of ruin the effect of the great first season. I mean, we're talking David Duchovny in drag. (actually, that was kind of funny, even before seeing X-files...it's probably hilarious now)

Finally, at the end of the show's run, it got REAL good again, and the finale is fantastic. But like I said, you don't need the beginning of season 2 in any hurry.

I've never been a big fan of the movie, I think it showed way too much of how F'd up the town of Twin Peaks is. The beauty of the show was watching it unfold so slowly.
Also, it's too bad the movie is pretty much told from Laura Palmer's POV. I liked the show being from Dale Cooper's angle.

Personally, I only want season 1 on disc. I have the Pilot on Laser, and season 1 on VHS. I probably wouldn't collect any more.

That sucks. I wanted to see what was gonna happen to all those characters. You telling me that none of their stories get resolved? I remember hearing how really weird the second season is with all kinds of shit going (Lodges/big guy/more weird shit). I still wanna see it though. I'll definately be getting the pilot dvd soon. And I heard Lynch cut out like 2 hrs of extra footage from the movie that could have cleared up some stuff. They tried to get it on the dvd but something happened and they couldn't get the footage. Sucks. And yes...I like Coopers pov better than Laura's also. It's just fun to see him do his thing. I have so many questions about the movie but I guess it's pointless to ask cause I didn't see the second season and some of the stuff is inconsistent when you compare it to the series anyway. That fucking David Bowie scene was weird as hell.

I wish someone State-side would release the Pilot on DVD. The Pilot is what made the series the classic that it is, and deserves a full-out SE.

Someone probably will cause I see a shitload selling on ebay. Someone has to notice that there's a market for the pilot (esp after the first season release has done fairly well saleswise...I think). But the import is cheap enough. I'll get that for now and hope a SE is on the way in the near future.

Definitely get the Pilot episode. I have the Taiwanese disc and I'm happy with it. I don't think that the pilot was ever released here, even on tape. The "pilot" that is on tape is slightly different.

I absolutely loved Fire Walk With Me even though it doesn't make sense on the surface. The scenes with Bowie were great and just added to the mystery of what was really behind Twin Peaks.

I also can't wait for season two but I suspected that it would be released in two parts. It sucks to have to wait but I'm sure that Artisan will do it justice.

I got a copy of the pilot and trust me, its essential to have if you've got the box set and FWWM. I'm looking forward to S2 and I'm sure they'll break it up on 2 sets since there are more episodes in S2 than there were in S1. I hope they're as nice if not better than the S1 box set.
