Is it just me, or does Kaufman comes off as a carnival barker or a schyster lawyer type?

The only troma DVD I've come into contact with is Tromeo and Juliet, but he comes off as a used car salesman to me. I bet he got money to start directing from his chain of drive-through car dealerships.

He didn't.
Kaufman started from point zero in the cinema business and achieved whatever he did with no help from others. I'm not a TROMA fan or anything, nor do I admire the guy, but I have to aknowledge at least that. His book is great though, one of the best reads I had lately.

I have nothing but respect for him as a business man, but he doesn't seem the type I would have as a friend. And as for his rise to fame, everyone should admire his ability to find a niche in a flooded market and fill it. I know Troma pisses off a lot of people, but they consistently please their fans.

Kaufman's book is an excellent read. I'm not much of a Troma fan, but that book was hard to put down!

ArrowBeach, it's not just you. Kaufman is the definition of "cheesy".

'Carnival barker' is one of the better descriptions of Kaufman that I've heard.

Although Troma releases a lot of stuff I find boring, amateurish, and almost unwatchable, I admittedly really enjoyed Kaufman's book, which I've read cover to cover numerous times. If "Terror Firmer" is half as entertaining as his book, then...well, it'll be okay, but if it's 2/3rds as good, then I think I'll buy it.

Really? I found it typical troma. They are all just out to have a good time and not really deliver to anybody but themselves and a few select fans that have followed them since toxic avenger. I was at a bar that held the wrap up party, i guess thats what the annoying mess was, and they showed parts of it, and it seemed stupid. then i saw the movie and it was really stupid. Thoses guys are just boring. Sorry fans, no offense, but their entertainment value is limited to
12-16 year old punks rockers and zitty dweebs. they lost their novelty about 150 movie ago. Again, no offense.

Well, I just ordered the book and the movie, and sure enough, the movie is full frame. I still think it's going to be worth it, Troma movies aren't really known for being cinematic. They know that they are going right to video, so I'm sure they film it with all the action in the center, or matte it or something. I can't wait for everything to come in.
