Personally, I would pick Re-Animator over Bride. But I like Bride as a sequel more than 99% of sequels made for other movies. They both rank pretty high for me.

I agree, I think re-animator was way better, but bride was still excellent

Re-Animator all the way. I enjoyed the sequel a lot too, but the original is one of my favorite flicks EVER.

sure, re-animator is better than bride, but bride is pretty good...jeffrey comb's overacting is great, the effects are cool (especially the re-animated hand creature), the plot is wacky and entertaining, and, well, it's just pretty good. worth a rental for sure, and a deal for the $3 i bought it for.

Without a doubt Re-Animator, but if you like the original you should certainly watch Bride as well.

I didn't find either that spectacular, but they were both decent films. Re-Animator was a bit better, but I thought Bride was pretty close.

I'm not really a fan of either movie. I like them only because they're Lovecraft, but "Bride of Re-Animator" is a lot like Lovecraft's original story whereas "Re-Animator" has only the name Herbert West, zombies and nothing more from the original story.

I like both films, but to be honest I think H.P. Lovecraft's name should be removed entirely from association with them. Lovecraft did not (indeed didn't approve of comedy/horror to begin with) write comedy/horror. He was known to walk out of many of the horror films of his time, none of which I find very good either. It's sad that most people associate his name with Stuart Gordon's juvenile approach to his work.

I eagerly await "At The Mountains of Madness" which seems to be going in the right direction over at New Line. Del Toro better do it justice. Hopefully his slumming it with Blade II was worth something.

I think both are great. I hope Beyond Re-Animator lives up to its predecessors.

Bride has its moments but is bloated compared to Re-Annimator. It has all these little swirling sub-plots that never quite amount to a whole.

Once David Gale expressed interest in reprising his role, they should have gone back to the drawing board and come up with something more personal between West and Hill.

Bride lacks the sense of menace that Gale's Dr. Hill brought to the first one.
