I don't think it would work without Joe Spinell. Just my opinion.

In the never made film Maniac 2, it was very interesting seeing Joe Spinell dip a co-worker's head into boiling oil at a restaurant kitchen. Tom Savini would of had a lot of work to do in that disturbing sequel.

Yea, seriously, how the FUCK would they ever do a proper sequel to Maniac without Joe Spinell? That would be like making another F13th film without Kane Hodder.....uh, wait a sec...... well anyways, it just wouldnt EVER work. End of story.

Maniac is a great film for two reasons: Joe Spinell and Tom Savini. Take one of those two people out, and it just wouldn't hold up. The same goes for a sequel.

It would be impossible to do justice to a movie like Maniac in some shitty follow up. It was a movie of it's time - and nowadays it wouldn't be accepted in the mainstream - which pretty much means that nobody would make it.
Who would play the maniac - some US soap opera icon, or somebody from Buffy? If it ever did get made - it would probably end up like some kind of hybrid abortion like Jeepers Creepers. |

The sequel died with Spinell and I hope it stays that way.
