Forbidden World

Nudity? yep.
Gore? yep.

This is out on DVD! Region 1? It's a pretty good Alien ripoff. But my favorite one is Galaxy of Terror. Have you seen it? It features a space babe getting raped by a huge slimy maggot. That scene tugs on my heartstrings everytime.

Damn!! Where'd you get this? I have been wanting a copy of this movie for so long. I haven't seen it in years, and a dvd would be awesome! I think it's a sequel to Galaxy of Terror. I have an old vhs of Galaxy, but never could find Forbidden. Let me know, please!!

Quickly, You must be warned Forbidden world is the sequel to galaxy of terror, and the first five mins. of forbidden are flashbacks to galaxy. So if you're any sort of completist you'll watch Galaxy first

Nope, that's a totally different film. Is MUTANT any good, by the way?

Mutant was ok I guess. A Zombie/Horror/Action hybrid starring Wings Hauser. The fast walking Zombies have blue faces and toxic breath. The effects were kinda cheesy but fun. I still need to get the Elite DVD since the Diamond version is only full screen and therefore sucks.

They're not related. They were released by the same company (New World) and co-produced by Corman. Galaxy reminds me of an old Star Trek episode gone bad. Forbidden is more of an Alien ripoff.

Touche!

Oh, man! Forbidden World is a Roger Corman-produced classic! Cheesy special effects and sets (a space station's walls look to be made out of egg crates), a hilariously fake monster that looks like a cross between Mr. Bubbles, Giger's Alien, and Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors, two awesome-looking babes shedding their clothes like a snake with its skin, and plenty of catastrophic acting. There are some genuine scares to be had, though, and the 77-minute running, coupled with the agile editing, make this a swiftly paced guilty pleasure of the highest order. I actually owned the LaserDisc of this back in the early '90s, yet it wasn't letterboxed and devoid of special features. Can't wait till this debuts on a region-1 DVD!

(Oh, by the way, 1983's Mutant (with Wings Hauser) is an outstanding horror flick! And, yeah, hellbily, the Elite DVD is the way to go. I own that one, and the letterboxing is generous and the image a whole lot clearer than the Diamond version -- which, in truth, looks worse than the VHS copy I used to own.)
