TCM And Tenebre

WHen I saw these movies. They were good but not then what I had expected like Argento for Tenebre and Classic From TCM but I never got that.

What's wrong with that.

Tenebre is awesome! One of my favourite Argento films! The arm chopping scene is nuts!! The finale is damn awesome as well!

"tenebrae" is really good, i remember watching it as "unsane" on video, great music, and some cool dream sequences

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of my favorite horror films of all time. Not only does it work as a terrifying piece of grueling terror, but it also has a lot of depth to it. There are several different readings you can do of the film, like its commentary on post-Nixon America and its dichotomy between family values and free spirited hippies.

TCM looks very grainy and realistic, but everything about it is full of quality. I've watched this film nearly more than any other film, and it never fails to deliver the goods. Hooper may be a hack, but the stars must have been in alignment for TCM, because in my opinion it is damn near flawless.

TENEBRE is a giallo masterpiece, and is my second favorite (possibly third favorite) Argento film! A must see for anyone who even remotely likes Argento!

Also, Tobe Hooper isn't a hack in my book, seeing how he has done such classics as TCM and the underrated THE FUNHOUSE. He also has made the good (but not quite classic) LIFEFORCE, TCM 2, EATEN ALIVE, and POLTERGEIST (I don't care about the Hooper/Speilberg debate, I'm just listing it). Also, I think THE MANGLER is a very fun and enjoyable film, and I watch it a lot. To each his own though.

Tenebre is pretty darn cool if I do say so myself. I'm a bit distanced from Argento lately, I just can't get into his work right now... Shit happens, right? But I'm not going to deny his work is cool, and Tenebre is definitly that...

As for Hooper, I really think he is a hack, and a big one! He's only done two movies I like (TCM and its sequel), the rest were overrated garbage!

Hooper has done some good work, to be sure, but there have been many horrible films like Crocodile that seriously undermine his previous work.

I've also thought that Hooper was just a routine director who just got lucky with TCM and parts of TCM2 and The Funhouse.

However, I started to change my mind when I saw the first episode of the mini-series "Taken." Eventually, this series just collapsed into a smoking pile of dung; but Hooper's opening episode has a lot of period style and does not lapse into the ridiculous plot/character crap that follows. It is by FAR the best two hours of the series. In fact, maybe the ONLY good two hours of that series.

I love TCM, Eaten Alive, Salem's Lot and Funhouse.

I like TCM2, Poletgeist, Spontaneous Combustion, Body Bags and Mangler.

I hate Night Terrors and Crocodile.

So, in my books, he's done more good than bad.

Tenebrae and TCM are both great films; I prefer Tenebrae though.

I still havent seen Tenebre, but I'm a HUGE fan of TCM and I think......no, I KNOW its one of the most important horror films ever made. It may not be the scariest of the goriest, but it has a certain quality to it that makes it unnerving to say the least.
