Best "Maniac" Movie

To celebrate the recent release of the Elijah Wood MANIAC remake and Blue Underground's releases of MANIAC COP 2 & 3 on Blu-ray and CD, let's pick our favorite MANIAC, cop or otherwise!

I voted 2001 Maniacs, just because it's lite, gory, and fun. I find myself re-watching it quite a bit.

The Maniac movies are too grim to rewatch. The Maniac Cop movies are kind of lame. Neon Maniacs has nostalgia working for it, but it really isn't all that great either.

Honorable mention to Invisible Maniac, which is just goofy and fun. Adam Rifkin's follow-ups are much better though (Psycho Cop 2, The Dark Backward, etc).

It's between Maniac ('80 and '12), Maniac Cop 1/2 and Two Thousands Maniacs!, but I went with Spinell's version. Although like The Burning, I notice issues with it every time I rewatch.

I had to go with the 80 version as that has my fondest memories. Saw the remake and it was alright.

That's a no brainer - 1980 Maniac I still have the AB tin with the cd shaped like Spinell's face, gotta love that. Plus who can deny Tom Savini's work on that film.

Easily Maniac Cop. I enjoy its sequels as well, but MC I simply one of my all time favourite horror movies. I was actually a bit disappointed by the 1980 Maniac (and found that I much prefer the similar Don't Go in the House).

Lots of good choices there, but Maniac (1980) gets my vote.

Guess it didn't make it though my IMDb search filter. I specified a minimum of 100 votes to weed out all the movies nobody had ever heard of. It had 94 votes. I can include it if you really feel it is better than the rest on this list!

Had to go with Maniac Cop 2. I haven't seen it since the early '90s but will never forget a scene where a girl was handcuffed to a car rolling downhill. Freaked me right out!

Maniac (1980). I just watched the 2012 version yesterday. It started out strong, but I slowly found myself loosing interest as the film went on. Fantastic score though.

The 2012 version was one of the most disturbing, gruesome, unrelenting films I watched in October this year. The first-person POV was very effective, as was the score.

Wow, I thought everyone preferred Maniac Cop II > Maniac Cop, apparently not.
