didn't buy it, wasn't tempted. i've been done with star wars since the craze that surrounded the first series of special editions in the 90's. that obsession just burned me out, and i am incapable of separating my loathing of 1990's star wars mania from the films themselves. nothing but bad associations.

I wrote off Star Wars in 2004 when Lucas added Hayden to ROTJ and changed Boba Fett's voice in EMPIRE. I figured at that point Lucas was just trolling his fans so I wasn't going to give him any more of my money. I'm surprised he didn't license Yakety Sax as the new intro music on the BDs.

Another didn't buy. I can't get over the changes and it's not the same experience I grew up with.

Well they'd have to get Carrie Fisher back in the studio to shoot those scenes and, well, yeesh. :nervous:

I picked up the set. It was worth it to me for the extras. The films look great, and I fast forward through the updated scenes that I don't like.

I still haven't opened my DVD's of the theatrical versions. So no, I'm not going to waste the money. Considering these were 2k remasterings from 2004 it's somewhat sad that people dumped the money on them at all. This is just a dump to pay for the 3D remastering.

The last time I watched Star Wars was with the Rifftrax versions. I'm pretty well done with them.

I've made my way through all six films and, excluding the Phantom Menace (which does indeed seem to have been softened up or something, maybe to hide the dated effects or to make it seem less grainy or whatever like the one review said. I dunno.) these films looking fucking fantastic. And the deleted scenes were a real treat! They totally should have left that opening in Return of the Jedi.

I agree. The Phantom Menace still looks good, but the worst of the bunch. But it's the worst film, so...

The other five transfers look very nice, and the DTS HD-Master audio on all are exceptional.

I'm on the fence about this release so I haven't picked it up yet. I'm thinking I'll ask for it for christmas that way I won't have to buy it but I'll still have it.

I figure I might buy it used down the road for the extras, but no way do I pad Lucas' pockets buying anywhere where he'll get a cent.
