I was wondering if I should have made a thread for pour ol' Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero. It's got a real uphill battle after how throw away part 2 was. The original is a classic. With so much to prove how could it possibly ever succeed?

This is how. Behold, arguably one of the best gore scenes of all time:

If you didn't watch because you didn't want to spoiler the movie because you plan on watching. Good on you. If you weren't going to bother but now are because that was so rad, good on you. If you still aren't impressed, tell me, what tops that?

That was disgusting. I can't think of any scene that tops that. I wasn't a huge fan of the first film, so I skipped the sequels.

I liked Cabin Fever and the sequal and the gore scene you posted is pretty good but best gore scene of all time? I dunno, looks really good for a modern movie and it's nice to see practical effects and "real" blood and goo but there is so much good stuff out there.

He probably has more haters than anything but I think anything Olaf Ittenbach does as far as gore is better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9cBuzKyrys

Whoa! Those scenes were pretty good. Seeing middle eastern subtitles adds a, "oh fuck what am i watching?!?" element to any clip :D

For me, I'd have to say pretty much anything from Guinea Pig: Flowers of Flesh and Blood.

Granted, I'm not sure if that counts as a scene, since it is pretty much the whole movie

And, I suspect that my high regard for the film may be an indication of my age. :)

The makers of Cannibal Holocaust weren't brought up on snuff movies charges for nothing. I've never seen more CONVINCING gore. If realism is the benchmark I don't think it will ever be topped.

i prefer the more cartoony gore, so i go with Braindead, which is almost like 1 big gore scene

i almost wanted to say the final transformation in The Fly, but that's more like a special effects scene, so that one's out

concerning that fight scene in Cabin Fever 3 => i would have liked it to be shot in the daytime

in terms of what gets under my skin, the 'razor slicing' scene in The New York Ripper

The Exterminator - opening scene with a guy having his head chopped off with a machete (pretty grim and realistic)

The Mutilator - guy at the end getting chopped in half between wall/car

Maniac - pretty much all the kills (the guy having his head blown off at point blank range in the car?)

For me, it depends on whether it's the impact of the gore scene or the handiwork of the gore from a technical perspective.

The leg amputation scene from Last House on Dead End Street is truly upsetting, not because it's a feat of makeup effects wizardry (we see a lot of wet stuff, but no working through layers of skin, muscle and sinew, and finally, bone), but because it's so mean-spirited.

The same applies to The Traveler (2006). It's a shot-on-video type of Z-grade film, and the gore scenes/kills are shown in such a mean-spirited manner that I actually had to cover my eyes. This hasn't happen to me since watching the Cannibal Holocaust animal snuff footage.

I've not watched the full film but the scene from 'The Toxic Avenger' with the child getting run over is quite possibly scraping the barrel..

Did you like that better than the head exploding in Scanners?

I like both of these choices...I'm also gonna add the Crate Beast attack from Creepshow when the guy gets his face bitten...such a cool scene, imo.

It's also worth mentioning the splinter eye gouge scene from Zombie.

I can't believe Day of the Dead hasn't been mentioned. When this topic comes up, my thoughts instantly begin and end there. In terms of both explicitness and realism, nothing tops it. So...

    "Choke on 'em!

Nostalgia is definitely making me biased but I can't imagine anything more clever and impressive and shocking than the Phillip "sleep-walking" death in Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Will anything in the history of gory cinema ever be that unexpected again? Tell me, after the first 2 films, that you honestly expected to see that. It's way gorier than the scene that MPAA hacked to ribbons in the original movie.

Maybe not the goriest, but could be the most disturbing - Irreversible.

I just watched Cabin Fever 3, and I thought for sure the scene you all were talking about was

    the cunnilingous part

I was post this same example a while back. Notice the guy playing with himself in the background?

I can't remember where, but I saw how they filmed that seen. Pretty interesting.
