I think Dimension owns it, although they have done SE's of all the other RR flicks they've put out. Maybe it has to do with the Weinsteins.
I'd love to see a SE of this as well. Very under-rated monster flick.

Not sure if I'd call Knightriders a SE, but it's certainly not bare-bones.
They Live has a SE, in France only. I ordered the disc from amazon.fr with help from an online translator. Unfortunatly it suffers from the slight cropping of most R2 versions, and forced French subs on some dvd players (my old Sampoo could get around this, my current Toshiba can't). There's notes and a link at the bottom of this page about the cropping.

This has been released twice already in a more-than-adequate edition for a movie of its age and obscurity. I don't see how you couldn't be happy with it--it got a hell of a lot better treatment than most films that have sunken into the abyss of forgotten stuff.

The UK versions of Halloween II and Halloween III both have commentaries by Horror Expert Stephen Jones And Film Critic Kim Newman. I have part 2 and you learn a lot of facts about the movie.

I wouldn't mind a Fright Night two-disc SE, including Part II as a bonus.

I have part 3 and it's pretty bad.
The comm. is O.K., but nothing great, and the 5.1 sounds nice.
Then you look at the picture and it's cropped to 1.85, and even worse, what minimal gore that exists in this film is cut.
Wish I would've consulted dvdcompare first and saved myself from this horrid disc.:(

You make it sound like the movie is a long lost classic. I certainly wouldn't call it "obscure".

Yeah, the current edition is fine, but it isn't a special edition in any way. The same goes for most of the films on my list. The Stepford Wives is one of those films I love so much that if ever they released a special edition with commentaries and interviews from everyone involved, not only would I buy it--I'd buy it in an INSTANT.

Now I need to see that 25 Years of Terror dvd. I had no idea Tom Atkins participates in it and does an interview on Halloween 3. :) Awesome!

It is obscure. The remake made it even more so. The Anchor Bay release, which is identical to the Paramount release, was titled "Anniversary Edition." Not everyone uses the "Special Edition" moniker for their releases.

Are you arguing for the sake of arguing? The original Stepford Wives may not be a movie that everybody's seen, but the title alone, which has entered into the American vernacular, automatically makes it more well known than many movies from the 70's.

And as for the Anchor Bay/Paramount releases being special editions, you're just wrong there. They are improvements over the original bare bones release from Anchor Bay, but do a featurette and some TV spots really qualify as a special edition?

Either way, it doesn't matter. If I think that a real special edition of The Stepford Wives should be released, that's my opinion and you don't have to agree--just don't say the previous edition is fine for such an "obscure" film and expect me to agree with you.

Rumor has it that there is going to be a Child's Play Special Edition soon. There supposed to be filming extras for it at the Child's Play Reunion at the Monstermania convention.

Oh wow! There was a lot of talk of the original elements having been destroyed in a fire, but you hear that about every movie I guess. Since then widescreen DVDs have shown up and supposedly you can get it on iTunes that way. I'm crossing my fingers.

Trick Or Treat. I know there were some bitchin' scenes cut out of this awesome film and I'd like to see them. A Charles Martin Smith and Marc Price commentary would be cool too.

I'm all over a Child's Play special edition...that movie rules, and the pan and scan DVD needs to be upgraded.

I also second Phantasm II...I could have sworn I saw a VHS two-tape special edition of this, years and years ago, and I didn't pick it up! I'm dying for an uncut DVD...
