So is this a remake or a sequel? Over on the IMDB boards there's a bunch of twats arguing over whether or not this is a remake, sequel or all of the above.

Not sure how this can be a sequel...?

It's my impression that they are making Evil Dead 4 as well as this remake.

One of the perks of having an iPad is the Youtube app bypasses all of that nonsense.

From what I have read and gathered after months of following this around. This film was initially Evil Dead 4 under a new director. Bruce Campbell was slated and set to reprise his role for this. The feeling was Mr. Campbell was supposed to get in shape for this return. After those plans failed they scraped his character all together. Which is why there is no Ash in this film he's not replaceable. He was also not willing to shed a few pounds just wanted to return as his current self. As far as this film officially being a sequel or a remake that could be debated. To me it's nothing more then an overproduced remake/re-imagined turd.

Well, they certainly aren't what they used to be.

Regardless of who produced it the film itself leaves allot to be desired. Would have preferred Raimi directing with Bruce returning as Ash.

Trailer looked a little more polished and stylized than I was hoping, but I have to admit, I'm intrigued. Not a "going to see it in the theater" kind of intrigued, though. More of a "I'll just wait for the inevitable unrated, uncensored, too shocking for theaters blu-ray kind of intrigued.

I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt.

It might be bad too, it's been awhile since these guys have done a good scary horror film. Sensibilities change with age and so does going hollywood. Both Rami and Campbell haven't touched good horror in a long time.

I'd watch this in the theaters no doubt. BUT, it sucks that Bruce isn't in it at all. I noticed they went with a more Demons / 28 Days Later type of eyes for the possessed instead of the classic blanked / whited out eyes.

I don't know, I doubt the Nightmare on Elm Street remake would have benefitted from appearences from Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, and/or Wes Craven. But then again, what the hell do I know. :)

I think they need to go through and remove all the pupils from those that are possessed. It's one of the things that made the possessed in Evil Dead stand out from the others in my opinion.

At least give us that. lol

Here's a quick photoshop that I did for comparison! LOL

To be honest, I really hate the look of the demons. They were so unique in the original movies.
