From my hometown local police blog:

    SEASONAL SCENE
At 11:01 p.m. on Sept. 19, Bridgewater police received a call from a Main Street resident who reported seeing blood on his neighbor’s front windows. Police checked it out and determined that the blood was fake, part of early Halloween decorations.

One of my best friends from back home is the biggest horror fanatic I know. He goes all out on Halloween, including putting fake blood up on the windows/curtains.

His new neighbors were horrified, especially the little 6 year old. Police came a knocking.....my buddy is relaxing watching Frailty. Luckily the Cops got a good laugh out of it.

That one will definitely go in the books.......you know you're a horror fanatic when the cops get called on you for "early" Halloween decorations. Guess it's officially THE season!!!

Fucking bullshit....... it's just to remind all the broke folk that you gotta start saving up and putting shit on layaway NOW to avoid being caught in a jam come Giftmas time. It's a reminder of why I love Halloween so much (aside from the fact I'm a horror fiend) Halloween you don't have to deal with bullshit presents, stress, nonsense with retarded family members......... and if you don't like Halloween, you can go about your business and ignore the fact it's Oct 31st without being labeled a miserable Grinch of a prick. Rant done.

Well said. I almost shit my pants when I saw Christmas trees. They are by far the first I've seen anywhere..and way to early for my liking.

Ha, reminds me of the guy who decorated his house as an Ebola contaminated zone for Halloween: http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/...-ebola-themed-decorations-for-halloween.html/

Christmas crap already? Jeezus, I need to get me into some Halloween stores now too as all the good stuff's gone by October.

I use to want to put up Halloween decor on like August 1st as a kid, so my mom had to push me to do it closer and closer to Halloween. And only the big stuff ON Halloween. But on Halloween I got carte blance to go nuts. So I got into the habit of only doing decorations on Halloween, and it became almost a religious thing to me that you spoil the wonder of the season by putting too much out too early! Ergo put out as little as possible until THEE day of days. It got to the point my mom had to poke and prod me to bring things up even the weekend before.

So when I was younger with my new house I'd got all out day and date, but these past few years I've slowed down and found myself hastily putting up only a few cardboard cutouts between doorbells and MST3K disc flips. And I wouldn't have half a box emptied before curfew and it was time to haul it all back in again (weather in Chicago has been so bad on the 31st lately you just can't leave it out).

My indoor decorations spend more days out in November than October! So I made a pledge that on October 1st I'd start decorating the house. My mom did an audit of their old stuff and bequeathed the rest to me. So I should be able to put up some of the good old stuff around my house this season too.
