Hey ... good news ... Fox announced today that they will be releasing a Region 1 DVD of Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2 on 4/1. There weren't any special features listed and it's not showing up on the Fox Retail website yet but hopefully it will at least be OAR. Since the Prom Night remake is hitting on 4/11, I guess it's as good a time as any to release it. Now I can finally close that annoying gap between Prom Night and Prom Night 3/4 Double Feature.

There's been a region 1 release of Prom Night 2 for a long time.

Huh? Unless you're talking about a crappy Canadian version (like the old Hellraiser 3 DVD that was floating around), I'm pretty sure that there was never any legitimate release here in the US.

It is a Canadian release from Alliance Atlantis which is basically the Canadian Universal.DVD isn't bad except for the full frame.

Who honestly gives a flying fuck about Prom Night II? How about a special edition of the original? The remake comes out so they re-release part 2? WTF? Give us a decent release of the original.

The new one that just came out from Echo Bridge looks pretty sweet. As far as bonus features? None.

I do. I'll take II over the original pile of crap any day, thanks.

Anyway, I have the Canadian disc, but if this is in the correct ratio, I'll spring for it.

They really need to give this movie a proper release. I mean, what are there, 3 R1 releases of it now? The AB version has got the trailer I think but the Echo Bridge version has a cleaner print. They need to get their shit together and give this a movie a release that does it justice.

Actually the Echo Bridge one is also sped up, like it's a PAL source.

Did MGM/Fox announce anything else cool?

I own the Canadian disc of Prom Night 2, but I'm game if Fox releases it in widescreen.

It was indeed taken from a PAL source, so it actually runs a couple of minutes shorter than the previous R1 releases. There's also a few annoying authoring defects.

Agreed.I don't hate the original but 2&3 are superior films.although part 3 needs a new release instead of that crappy TV version they put on the double feature.

Nice! Widescreen, and a fresh spin on the old artwork. I'm totally game. I hope this new transfer has more contrast - the previous was clean, but overly bright and at times flat. Still, Every installment in this series remains sadly neglected on DVD. Would it kill for just ONE special feature from any of the films?

    Widescreen? Sold!

...I just hope they don't state "Widescreen" on the back cover and shove a fullscreen transfer on the disc instead, like they did with Ski School. :fucked:

That's some choice artwork. I'm looking forward to this one. I haven't seen it since the old VHS days.

Pretty nice cover art. This has been a favorite of mine since the days of renting the VHS at Marsh supermarket for 99 cents..and totally agree with the neglect of the rest of the series.

Even though the Prom Night 3: Last Kiss part of the travesty that was the double feature wasn't the R-rated cut, the "unrated" has yet to surface, at least to my knowledge .Youtube offered a gorier version of several deaths, including the milkshake mixer-to-the-brain.Let's hope someone rescues this franchise and restores everything in semi-special editions, or something.

Speaking of part 3, is there any region DVD that has the R cut?

The Australian Region 4 DVD of Prom Night III is fully uncut. It's fullscreen, but the transfer looks nice.
