Wow that's some incredible looking stuff. As soon as I get some funds loaded in my paypal account, I'm donating. These are TRUE FX wizards and deserve all the help they can get.

That reel of the work they did in The Thing was just depressing as hell. I wonder what retard thought CGI would look better...

Well, I just stumbled upon this thread again, after almost a year later.
Glad to see that it got funded and are in production.

I hope the Blu-ray release isn´t too far away. The backers are supposed to get it in May, but I guess the regular release date is gonna be a bit later. Wonder if it´s gonna get a theatrical release as well, at least on the festivals this year?

The trailer looks great. Can't wait to see this one. I've hear a lot of complaints over at BloodyDisgusting that this looks too similar to The Thing and there a lot of similar scenes but I really don't see how that's a bad thing.
These guys were being the practical effects in The Thing prequel so I think this is their way at showing a lot of the "what could have been" effects in their own little film. Looks like fun to me anyway :D

Now, THIS is what a "The Thing" sequel should be like :)

Next, I hope they make a proper "sequel" to ALIENS ;)

Hope it does well enough for them to keep making monster movies like this.

Anyone here seen this yet, watched it over the weekend and was very disappointed, I was never expecting anything great from the story, and as it was, it was serviceable, but the effects were the big draw here and honestly it upsets me to say that they were disappointing, a lot of what could have been good was hidden by the film being overly dark, shaky cam and in some cases some strange optical lighting was added. don't get me wrong there were some good effects, but just not the show stopping assault I was hoping for.

Yeah, I was disappointed as well.

The problem with the creatures, was that most of them just sat there, barely doing any movement at all, except for shooting tentacles all around the place.
There were a few shots, where they tried to use camera movements, to make it seem like the monster was actually coming at us.
Was maybe two of the monsters that actually moved around, but the biggest one, we barely got to see, thanks to quick cutting and shakycam.

There were a few times, when the characters got attacked by a monster, and it was so badly edited, it was kinda hard to see, what the hell happened, when they fought it.

Overall, the direction, editing and camerawork, was very mediocre.

And god damn, was the sound mix shitty. Every time someone opened a door, they reused the exact same soundFX, every fucking time. It became really annoying. It's one of those stock soundFX, when opening an iron door.

Lance was basically the only good actor in this one.
Some of them was so bad, that it felt like watching a bad porno.
The dialogue is really cringe worthy at times.

Sadly, none of this is, so bad it's good, Corman style, it's just boring.
And except for two of the creatures, the rest was very lackluster in the design.
You could tell that they were very limited by the budget.

Even with the replaced CGI FX, The Thing (2011) had way better creature designs and monster action. And it was also a much better film.

Maybe my expectations was WAY too high, after waiting over two years for the film to be released.
But it felt like they promised a lot more, than they could deliver.

Shame this is getting bad reviews as a film. I hear the effects are decent for the limited budget though. I was really hoping this would be more though. Still got to see it for myself but I've heard mostly the same complaints for people.

I saw a few so so reviews of this on the other horror forum today. Now here too. I'm still looking forward to seeing this movie. I recall some photos and stuff from the Kickstarter that looked good. It can't be as bad as The Rig.

Saw this last night and it is indeed forgettable and a letdown. I basically agree with everything Steel76 said. Super obvious product placement that had me thinking I was watching an infomercial, terrible camera work, average acting and characters and practical effects that didn't look nearly as good as you'd be expecting. Very disappointing.

I knew the FX was going to be a letdown, as soon as the first transformation happened. You know, the one that looked like something that would fit better in a Troma movie, like Class of Nuke em High ;)
At first I was laughing, but then I though "Oh no, it´s going to be THIS shitty?!" :D

I feel sorry for the people who helped kickstart this movie, since none of them seems to have gotten their promised extras and items.
But the biggest slap in the face, is the movie itself.
If you gonna brag about making the ultimate old-school practical FX monster movie, you better deliver in that area, and also give us a good look of the monsters.
And please, never let a coked up monkey handle the damn camera ;)

Damn I was really hoping it would give The Thing a run for its money. I guess it was all hype for the Kickstarter.

Same here. Even the creature designs were pretty terrible. One of the worst things is that they didn't really deliver what was promised which from my understanding was a throwback film that utilised practical effects from an award winning team of artists. Troma does better practical effects for the most part than what is seen here (which isn't much due to the terrible way it is shot).

100% agree. Although I've seen better fx in Troma movies.
