So which is it fight fans?

Well - here's a list from a UK based poll:

    1. King Kong - King Kong (1933)
    2. Talos - Jason and the Argonauts (1963)
    3. The Alien - Alien (1979)
    4. The T-Rex - Jurassic Park (1993)
    5. The Thing - The Thing (1982)
    6. Shelob - Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
    7. The Metaluna Mutant - This Island Earth (1955)
    8: Tetsuo - Akira (1988)
    9. The Skinned Werewolf - The Company of Wolves (1984)
    10. The Troll - Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (2001)

Hm, not a bad lot. I'm not see Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, so I don't know about those. I reckon though, they're popular choices from the younger audience who maybe don't know too much about monsters. Good to see The Thing and Alien there though.

No Frankenstein, no Dracula, no Creature from the Black Lagoon! Godzilla wasn't a picnic either.

I don't see how the This Island Earth monster is on there, but ok.

I don't like the movies, but Pumpkinhead is a monster I'd put on my list.

King Kong '33 is number one in my book. It's surprising but very satisfying to see The Thing on there, strange to see This Island Earth and impressive to see Company of Wolves.

I think Forbidden Planet's The Monster from the Id was much more terriflying then The Metaluna Mutant. No contest.

But yeah, where in the hell is Boris Karloff as Frankenstein? That guy scare the piss outta me when I first saw it as a kid! I literally hide the tape so I'd never have to see it again (still haven't found it, I might have thrown it away :D )

It's hard for me to point out one particular monster in film that terrified me, but I've always loved the design for Creature from the Black Lagoon.

why is Tetsuo on there? he's not even a movie monster. And why the that lame cgi troll from Harry Potter on there? if anything that was comical not terrifying. Anyways, my vote goes to Alien, from Alien

It is cool to see the skinned wolf from Company of Wolves made the list but
how can the werewolf from American Werewolf in London not make the top ten in a UK list? It's a travesty! I demand a recount of votes :fire: !

    Yeah!! Talos kicks ass!!!!!!!

I really dug that tall, skinny zombie dude in 'This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse'. I would have liked to have seen more of him - the way he moved was creepy as all hell.

Definitely the original Alien... Terrifying and elegant at the same time. Good call on the CHUDs, Nazi. They were seriously underused in the movie.:(

For me it was either "Jason and the Argonaughts" or "Sinbad", where Talos, the big Iron Gladiator came to life - that still creeps me out for some reason. The Madusa in Clash of the titans scared me as a kid too.
