Here's some interesting news that's sure to piss a lot of people off. Fangoria has learned that Midnight Movies Entertainment and Lux Digital Pictures GmbH are in the final stages of postproduction on Night of the Living Dead 3D, a new motion picture inspired by the 1968 George A. Romero classic. Exploiting the film’s reputed public-domain status and the recent explosion in zombie flicks, 'Night of the Living Dead 3D' shot in and around locations in Los Angeles last summer under the direction of Jeff Broadstreet, helmer of the indie films 'Sexbomb' and 'Dr. Rage'. Robert Valding penned the update, which reportedly uses the original film more as a jumping-off point than 1990’s faithful Tom Savini-directed version.

Seriously, remaking a remake? What the hell?

I wouldn't be surprise if we hear next of a remake of Land of the Dead...

Either they'll remake Land of the Dead or go back and remake Dawn of the Dead a second time just like they're remaking Night for the second time.

But I don't understand, even if there are prints of Night in the public domain, the intellectual property of it is still copyrighted. The story itself is not in the public domain, just certain copies of the original film. Is there a law I've missed, what exactly are they "taking advantage" of?

Recent remake-itis be damned, Sid Haig and 3-D automatically makes this a must see.

Know what I'm sick of a lot more than remakes? G*d Damned zombie movies! There are just too many!!! Seems like everyone's doing zombies these days and most of them have been pretty bad/cliched. Ah well, soon there will be a huge backlash against them and then maybe something else will become trendy again.

As sac-relig as this may be, I am interested in the project. I have disliked the first remake since opening night (Shannafey was running the projectors!) so I am more than willing to look at what someone else's take on it would be. The 3-D thing is interesting too. I doubt that this will get a big enough theatrical release for me to actually get to see it in 3-D though. I imagine the first viewing that most of us will see will be on DVD.

I still hate to see Image Ten getting screwed after all this time, but it was their rookie mistakes that got them in this situation :(

I may give it a chance, but only for Sid. Although the thought of flesh-eating in 3-D does sound quite promising.

I think it's in the trailer, but it's done with a cell phone.

As long as they don't skimp on the gore---that was the big problem I had with the remake.
