OK, so it's just a teaser, but I'm glad we've finally gotten something concrete after months of no info. Paramount really seems to be keeping this project air tight!

Anyhow, check the official trailer Here

The first film was alright, but not worth the hype at all. The second film sucked. This prequel looks like it completely disregards the 'myth' they established with parts 1 and 2...

    Since the demon was obviously
    Rumpelstiltskin
, how the hell does Bloody Mary tie in?

Will likely see it to see how they screwed that up or tie that in, but most likely will not enjoy it.

I found the first two films to be interchangable. The first one was viewed in the theater. The Second I waited and rented on DVD. I'm sure I'll wait for the third to hit DVD as well.

i've only seen the first one so far, but based on the trailers for parts 2 and 3, it looks like they are literally just making the same movie over and over again. part 1 was fine, but it didn't really have any story. for those who complain about the prevalence of jump scares over anything else, I would think this series would be anathema, since that's basically the entire trick.

How scary can this one be, if it only focuses on the two little girls? I mean, we know they're not gonna die, because we saw them all grown up in the first two movies. I honestly don't think a movie can be that frightening if death isn't an option.

I enjoyed both parts one and two so I am excited about part 3. I thought the first one was a little scarier but it was the first so it had that advantage over the second

I quite liked the first one,the sequel almost put me to sleep.Think I'll pass.Seems like they're going to the well a little too often with this series.

Exactly - how scary can ANY of those faux-reality movies be when the horror is relegated to the characters specifically and not just any random person. At first, the idea of the first film was really scary because you thought the Demon attack can happen to any unfortunate soul it sets its sights on. That notion was quashed quickly and it lost effect for me. Looks they are really drawing this whole family angle out waaaaaaay too much.

Ugh. I may watch it for free, if I get bored enough.

The only way I'll ever watch another film in this series is a guarantee that Micah will be graphically vivisected on-screen.

Wow, they are really trying to run this series into the ground. First one was overhyped, second sucked, I'll probably watch this one online when I'm bored.

just watched part 2 a few hours ago. and from about half way through onwards, all i could think about was this post. made it impossible to take it even remotely seriously.

also, when i watched the original, it was (unbeknownst to me) with one of the alternate endings attached. Specifically, the one where
she gets killed by the cops.
So when the text came up at the end of part 2, i thought
wait a minute, this makes no sense...her whereabouts aren't "unknown". She's fucking dead, in her bedroom. and without the damn kid. what kind of revisionist bullshit is this?!
Then I read about the alternate endings. I made a halfhearted attempt to find the "official" ending online, the one that gels with part 2, but apparently paramount had them all yanked. oh well. i don't think i'll end up losing any sleep over it.

For me Insidious was the film I had hoped the first Paranormal Activity would be, a linear storyline with actual scares.
Watching the first PA in theaters was ok, the second one was awful and I laughed more than anything else.
The third also looks pretty bad. Is the plan to have a new one every October now? Kind of like the SAW franchise. The novelty of the first has worn off and there's really no reason to go back.
May rent the third if I'm really bored one night, not otherwise.
