Surprised there aren't any blu-only MGM acquisitions or multi-film combo packs, but it's still a pretty stacked month. I'm also surprised they split up the PSYCHO flicks!

That combo pack of the MST3K Movie is a big surprise. Never heard that that was being released until now. This is another great month for Shout! What'll be cool is, whereas August has no Scream Factory Collector's Edition releases, in September we get four Collector's Editions. I'm down for all of them as well as the Scanners double feature, which I'll pick up once Criterion gets around to their Cronenberg box set.

Shout's doing the regular MST3k releases now too, so there's a great chance that some of the behind the scenes footage, cut scenes and new extras will be available.

I was hoping that Psycho 2 and 3 would be a double feature...

    I won't buy part 3 on it's own.

Pre-ordered Day of the Dead. Will get to Prince of Darkness eventually. Thanks Bruce for the link and special thanks to Shout for all of their dedication and hard work. Now, if they can release an ultimate uncropped remasterred Night of the Living Dead (1968) and wear down Richard Rubenstein to get the rights to all three versions of Dawn of the Dead (1978) remastered in 1080p, I can die a happy man. :)

Long overdue for a properly stacked release, Shout Factory take a swing at John Carpenter's PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1987). When a priest discovers a fluid-filled cylinder in the basement of a formerly abandoned church, he calls in a research team to investigate its contents. It turns out the liquid is the essence of pure evil, a sort of anti-good, and from then on it's vomiting, possessions, murder, and a crazed gang of homeless people led by Alice Cooper. Probably the most underrated of Carpenter's '80s films, PRINCE OF DARKNESS has a wealth of creepy ideas, building an atmosphere of unease and dread on its way to an unsettling climax; it'll be great to hear the cast and crew discuss and dissect this one. (No finalized list of extras yet, but it's been designated a Scream Factory Collector's Edition, so expect plenty. Apparently an Alice Cooper interview is already in the bag!)

I just don't know how Scream can top Anchor Bay's release of Day Of The Dead (would love if all the extras from the SE were ported, which I hope they will, and included the 6.1 DTS-ES track for the DVD).

For starters, a copy of Romero's original shooting script would be really cool. How about a roundtable-type discussion with the principal actors discussing their careers? Video commentary? (remember those?)

Strange how even bother with a Psycho 2 & 3 dvd releases. Considering there is already 2 versions of each already. Plus a multi set. Just the Blu will be fine.

The transfer needs an massive upgrade. Also the 6.1 mix you are referring to has several unnecessary changes (removal of swear words, gun shot sound changes, etc).

That POD artwork might be the best yet from Shout. Can't wait for that one, always a real underrated Carpenter flick.
