Great little film. I own the R2 Dragon disc, but a better quality disc is badly needed for this one.

The Dragon DVD is the one I was thinking about. Why isn't this a good edition of the film?

Noooo! Renny is B-movie God. He's made more great bad movies than anyone else I can think of. And some of them are actually GREAT bad movies!

It's not that bad really, but not the greatest either.

I actually got it on VHS, I was gonna buy a DVD of it (I'm assuming foreign copy or something) but then I saw it for dead cheap on VHS and decided if I was gonna take a risk at least it would've been on a £3 VHS. Well anyway i loved it, really think they need to get this film out officially.

I got to see this at the Drive-In in '87. It played with "Prom Night 2, Hellerrrr Mary Lou".
I loved it, but the presentation was too dark. I saw Viggo for the first time and thinking "that guy looks like Kirk Douglas".
I rented it on VHS the following year.
I almost scored the lobby standee for this at an indoor theater my friends worked at. Almost...but the manager decided he wanted it for himself, the jerk. He hated horror movies but thought his kids would want it for their room. Right...he just didn't want me to have it for free.

Hey, don't forget Harlin's NOES: The Dream Master! It's a notch down from Dream Warriors, but still a fun sequel. :D

Remember when Anchor Bay had all those New World movies? I was really hoping that this one would get a DVD release. :(

Anchor Bay still has most of those New World movies.

But Prison? I thought it was an Empire Pictures release.

Optimum Home Entertainment will release Prison in the UK on October 20th. According to their website, it will be widescreen!

just saw this tonight for the first time, and i enjoyed it a lot. the deaths were really gruesome, and the story (while simple) was well told. when you consider the nature of the story, the unseen poltergeist-like quality of the evil spirit, and the fact that its shot pretty much on a single set, it seems apparent that the movie must have had a pretty modest budget. but that doesn't affect the quality of the film at all. in fact, these limitations work in the films favor, i thought. the lack of any real external characters (other than the woman, who functions mainly as a plot device) makes the prison seem like an island, completely out of contact and cut off from the outside world. there's no hope of help coming from anywhere outside. and the way the spirit is presented is a great example of less-is-more. this was a really strong film. I remember seeing the vhs tape on store shelves when i was a kid, and i really liked the cover art. i still do...

Die Hard 2, Mindhunters and Long Kiss Goodnight are all decent movies. Hell, I even really enjoyed Deep Blue Sea. To say Prison is his only good film is a bit harsh.

I can't agree about Mindhunters, but I've got some love for a lot of other Harlin films. Cliffhanger is also great, and Cutthroat Island, despite destroying Carolco, is one of my favorite movies. Seriously.

Deep Blue Sea is one of my all time favorite shark movies, but it doesn't have much competition outside Jaws and Shark Attack 3.
