Here’s a sneak peak of the first of NINE MGM films Scorpion Releasing has partnered with Kino Lorber to release. Similar to the releases of a few years back, these several Kino Lorber Blu-rays will be fully produced by Walt Olsen, who will also oversee 6 brand new upcoming HD transfers.

From the Rene Cardona Jr., the acclaimed director of “SURVIVE!”, comes this thrilling adventure with some jaw-dropping shark attack thrills!

Hugo Stiglitz, Andres Garcia and Susan George are caught up in a love triangle on the high seas, until a giant monstrous shark shows up to chomp up all that love nonsense! Also starring Fiona Lewis and Jennifer Ashley.

TINTORERA, a large and vicious tiger shark that won’t let up, is terrorizing boaters and beachgoers everywhere. It’s every swimmer’s worst nightmare! Will anyone survive?

TINTORERA will be presented in its superior US release version. Grab on tight to your bikinis and speedos, because this ridiculous shark-horror-sleaze-melodrama will be biting its way onto Blu-Ray very soon!

Coming Soon and sold through @theroninflix, comes the exciting macho adventure film from Cornel Wilde, "Shark's Treasure".

When four treasure hunters get together to find a treasure that's lost at sea, they find it and have to confront the deadly jaws of killer sharks and also get assaulted by a bunch of escaped prisoners led by the sadistic Lobo and his boy-toy Juanito. Will they escape with the treasure?

Starring Yaphet Kotto and Cornel Wilde and coming soon from a brand new 2019 HD master!

Man, Scorpion has under-the-radar had one of the best slate of releases of any boutique label this year.

Just a heads up for those who have not seen Rene Cardona Jr.'s TINTORERA (TIGER SHARK) and are planning to pick it up - it does contain more real animal cruelty/violence than Cannibal Holocaust does so just be forewarned! Here's my Letterboxd review of it:

Tintorera surpasses Cannibal Holocaust for animal cruelty, as more than a handful of sharks, barracuda, manta ray, and other fish, are harpooned or shot right before your very eyes... animal-lovers avoid... but if you can make it past this cruelty to animals there's a surprisingly unique movie here, where shark hunters/womanizers strike up a three-way consensual relationship that manages to leap over conventional boundaries and enemies become friends, but animals become enemies in this Mexican soap-opera-slash-weird-Jaws-rip-off featuring barbaric treatment of the oceans' creatures....

Also coming soon from Scorpion/Kino via their Facebook page - Cannon Films / Ruggero Deodato's THE BARBARIANS:

The two giants of Kino Lorber and Scorpion Releasing are preparing to bring you two more giants to your TV screens very soon. We are proud to be presenting the cult classic action film, The Barbarians, starring everyone's favorite muscle-bound twins, David Paul and Peter Paul. Directed by the iconic Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust), this story sees twin Barbarian brothers Kutchek and Gore seeking revenge against the Warlord Kadar (played by the late, great Richard Lynch) for massacring their tribe and kidnapping them when they were children.
The film also stars such greats as Eva LaRue (CSI: Miami, Ghoulies Go to College), Virginis Bryant (Demons 2, Demons 3: The Ogre), and Micheal Berryman (Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes).
Start flexing those biceps now because The Barbarians is coming very soon!

The Barbarians is big dumb fun in the right frame of mind, emphasis on dumb. If the idea of a Cannon produced Italian sword & sorcery flick directed by Ruggero Deodato featuring twin American body builders in their first leading roles spouting out-of-place jokey one-liners and the acting abilities of a First Grader appeals to you, dive in!

One of favorites. I'm big on sword and sorcery type films. This particular entry is more on the fun side. Probably the first and last time you'll see a guy get hanged, break the rope and free himself by flexing his neck muscles. It's that awesome. :p David and Peter Paul have never taken themselves seriously. They always joke around in all their films. Richard Lynch is in this as the villain. Eva LaRue is hot. Action, violence, monsters... What's not to love?

Now we need The Sword and The Sorcerer on Blu. Actually shocked this isn't out yet. Should have been one of first along with Beastmaster.

Speaking of Beastmaster. Here's a coincidence. I just looked for the hell of it, curious if a Blu was in the works and found this out. Who knew? Apparently the negatives are lost. And this all came to light a few days ago, and there's an entire thing on twitter about it.

I don't know if people know this. But David Paul died in March this year.

If the rumors I've read are true, the rightsholder(s) to The Sword and The Sorcerer (along with Alligator and it's sequel) apparently has very deep pockets, thanks to their watch business, and either has limited/no interest in licensing the rights or has an extremely outdated, unrealistic opinion on how much these films are actually worth.

Oh, so that doesn't look good. Let him sell his second rate watches and give the rights to people who understand the movie business.

I'm probably in for Death Wish 3. To upgrade my MGM Blu.
