Been meaning to pick up a copy of this for a long time and always missed out--I know this is a shitty blu but is it worth it if you dont have another copy?

That's why I bought it. It's by no means unwatchable, it's just awful looking for a blu ray.

Didn't get a chance to cancel my order before it shipped. Oh well. At least there's a new commentary.

No, the theatrical HD release actually looked good. It was the audio that was terrible. However, we were watching it in a movie theater from like 50+ feet away projected onto a movie screen, not up close on an LCD or Plasma tv, so who knows how "detailed and great" it actually was. To the naked eye in that experience it looked pretty good.

So at what point is a company that offers products to consumers held liable for false advertisement?

Yup... I don't often agree with Blu-ray.com's reviews, but that pretty much sums it up to a T.

Fuck Anchor Bay. They should offer a replacement disc for this one...with an actual HD transfer! :fuck:

At the very least, they could have stuck the second film on there so that I could get rid of my DVD.

Or they could have offered the R-rated HD version that was in theaters as a viewing option, ala LionsGate's My Bloody Valentine blu-ray.

Shame. At least I got mine dirt cheap.

so glad i went with the TCM 40th anniversary 4 disc blu-ray/dvd combo set instead this saddens me being a huge fan of silent night deadly night that this was treated the way it was for its blu-ray debut.. I thought images Hills Have Eyes blu-ray was bad but this seems to be far worse blu-ray..

As soon as I saw the review on Kentai's Blog, I cancelled my pre-order. Dodged a bullet there.

sorry, I meant the outer case cover - the pictures on the back show screen captures which show just how horrible the transfer is up close!

Mine is still sat on my shelf sealed up - I'll visit this nearer to Christmas methinks :)
