Took November 1st (today) off work so I could stay up late and watch:

Every other movie ended up being a werewolf one!! I was in no mood for zombies, but I can take werewolves any time.

I honestly wouldn't have made it to An American Werewolf or Dracula if I hadn't watched Black Christmas. I was having a hard time staying awake but after watching BC I was wide awake...and a little freaked out. That movie always gets me!!!

I had so many other movies I wanted to watch on Halloween...ya know, like the actual movie Halloween....but I ran out of time and stamina. Guess I'll have to wait until the weekend and have a post-Halloween fest. :)

I'm really impressed by those of you who were able to do 3+ in a day. That's commitment and fine time management. I'm sad October is over.

    Same here.
Had to work on the 31st and didn't get home until late afternoon. That sucked. I would've rather stayed home and had me an all day/all night movie marathon instead. Maybe next year. I'm still glad I managed to finish TFTC season 6 followed by Invasion Of The Body Snatchers before I collapsed though.

What? Damn, I went to their website late September and didn't see these listed. There was a Universal Classic revival in a Chicago suburb too with representatives of Lugosi, Chaney and Karloff's descendants there. I mixed up the weekend though and missed it.

Damn did I drop the ball this year. At least I made it to The Rocky Horror Picture Show on thee day of all days. Didn't mix that date up I assure you!

I only started going to their website right before my trip, so I am not sure when they started to list it there. I first learned about the event on Myspace. This year was their third annual and on their Myspace page, they have a listing of movies from the past years and they have a gift for creating a good lineup. It was a great time, especially for someone like me, who feels I don’t really see a movie until I see it on the big screen. The crowd was really into it so even when you were tired, everyone else’s energy brought you up. They also showed classic horror trailers, had vendors in the lobby selling some cool horror merchandise and had a DJ spinning in the lobby.

Since I am not a local, it was hard for me to stay for the full 24 hours. I had to skip Vincent Price’s The Raven, It’s Alive, Deathdream and The Shining. The Shining was playing at midnight at my local art house the following weekend, so it wasn’t a huge loss to not see it at the marathon. I also had to miss Demons 2 with a personal appearance by Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni. She arrived early in the afternoon and hung out which I thought was cool. I had to miss it because I had a ghost tour that was already prepaid.

When October approaches, I am always looking around on the internet for horror or Halloween related events. From what I understand, the Music Box Massacre will be taking place the second weekend of October every year and I plan to make it an annual tradition. With the marathon, ghost tours, haunted attractions and horror related plays and theatrical events, a horror fan can have a fun and packed long weekend in Chicago in October.

The theater you mentioned that was hosting the Universal Monsters event was hosting 3 or 4 special screenings of The Birds with Tippi Hedren and Veronica Cartwright in attendance for each showing the weekend of the horror marathon. I really wanted to attend but my schedule was completely full for the entire 4 days I was in town and the theater was really far out into the suburbs so I had to sadly pass.

But again, I plan to be in Chicago every October. I had a blast.
