Good Lord, how many special editions of this do we need? I'll stick with my special edition yellow tin I got last year. If anything, I'll get the Blu Ray eventually.

Blu-ray is my next upgrade. The tin does me just fine until then.

Getting the blu-ray. Anymore standard def releases are just pointless and any new special features they add will probably just be treading the same ground. There's only so much one can say about a 34-year old film.

I only have the Pioneer DVD so this might me worth it for me to buy.I just might wait and see how people like the quality of it first since I know the newest edition is pretty superb.I do agree though all these movies are getting special editions every year.I'm surprised AB didn't get the rights to this movie.Im sure back in the day they would have gave us a true fans delight.

Seriously, fuck them. How many editions do we need? Blu-Ray is the next upgrade. I am fed up with this type of releases!

    :lol::lol::lol:

I love the "Seriously Ultimate Edition" tag on the front, like every other release was just bullshittin'.
At least it's R2, I thought BU was seriously becoming Achor Bay for a second there.
This is seriously enough releases of this film though.
I will seriously be passing on this!

At least it doesn't offer too much more than what's already available on Dark Sky's 2006 2-Disc Ultimate Edition DVD.

    New features include:
    • ‘Off The Hook’ an interview with Teri McMinn
    • Interview with production manager Ron Bozman
    • Interview with director Tobe Hooper
    • Interview with writer Kim Henkel

and the Teri McMinn interview is going to be on the Blu-ray Disc so US consumers will only be missing out on the Hooper, Henkel, and Bozman interviews.

And considering Hooper and Henkel are interviewed in the Shocking Truth and/or Flesh Wounds documentaries and Hooper's on one of the commentary tracks, I doubt we'll be missing much.

BU never had TCM, Dark Sky has it now R1.

I never upgraded from my LD, because it was a better transfer. By the time they came 'round with a better transfer on DVD the Blu-ray release was already looming over the horizon so I've held off.

If I were to go for a standard release it'd have to be the German release in the chainsaw case. It can be had relatively cheap these days.

I've never upgraded the DVD everyone complained was covered with "glue". Because it looked pretty decent to me. And yeah, this is a BR title.

My mistake. I'll probably keep getting those companies mixed up though as the disc covers look similar to me.:)

Nope, not interested in this one at all. The 2-Disc Ultimate Edition is plenty for me. :)

  15. TCM - Seriously UE

I started off with the English Blue Dolphin release and the last one I bought was Dark Sky's beautiful Steelbook. To date I've got five releases and I'll be getting this one, too. I don't double-dip for the sake of it, I only go for the same title more than once with the few films I truly love and Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of them. It's had some very interesting international releases mounted in - gimmicky, obviously but nonetheless - imaginatively conceived packaging. It'll be interesting to see if this one sports the same amazing transfer as Dark Sky's release overseen by Don May Jr. and if so, will it be another awful standards conversion or will Second Sight Films get it right.

I'll be sticking with my 2-disc Dark Sky DVD set. Especially cause it's personalized and autographed by Tobe Hooper. Got to meet him this weekend and I got to party and hang out with him for 2 nights. Really humble and friendly man. One of the nicest people I've ever met, hands down.

Guys, I'm disappointed that nobody's busted out the "I'm super, SUPER serial" reference yet.
