Thanks guys. It actually showed up yesterday. So damn expensive...came to about $50 each after shipping and conversion. But I'm happy to have them.

Interesting... so Amazon has a pre-order for John Carpenter's Vampires on blu-ray through Fox with a dirt cheap $11.99 SRP.

If this is true, glad I didn't spring for the $30 Twilight Time release!

It's most surely an Amazon pre-order screw-up. It's a Sony film, and there's no reason Fox would be releasing it.

Can't be positive but the Amazon listing could be for another movie. I did some searching for fox releases & I found that Vampire Sucks is being released on the same day for the same price at foxconnect.com . Features are Theatrical Version & Unrated Version. Just like it says on the details on Amazon.

Sorry to give you the bad news. But who knows I could be wrong, I'm just giving my gut opinion on the situation.

It is definitely an error. The Amazon pre-order is for this completely different movie: https://www.foxconnect.com/vampires-suck-extended-bite-me-edition-1.html

Not sure if this was already mentioned elsewhere on the forums, but these (and more!) are currently on sale for $19.95 each on Twilight Time's official website (not Screen Archives).

Also FYI, John Carpenter's Vampires is on their "Going Fast" page. No idea what that means in terms of number of copies left but it's on sale for $20 so now is a good time to grab it.

Thanks for the heads up on these. I was able to pick up three movies I'd been wanting but not quite wanting to pay full price. Too bad I already bought Vampires!

I've been dragging my feet on ordering, but finally placed my order for Vampires, Strange Invaders, and 10 To Midnight today.

Still overpriced, but probably the cheapest they're going to get. I've been itching to revisit Vampires anyway, I don't think I've seen it since it premiered on HBO / Showtime or whatever in the late '90s.

Thanks for the heads up :)! In addition to Vampires, I picked up Scream And Scream Again and La Bambola Di Satana (AKA The Doll Of Satan-this wasn't on sale but was only five bucks more).

I picked up Count Yorga - I actually have not seen either of the Yorga movies so going in blind - 19.99 isnt too bad for a Twilight release

Guys, John Carpenter's Vampires is down to less than 600 copies on the TT website. SAE is sold out. If you want this...buy it now.

I paid full price for both Yorga and Vampires--and I don't regret spending the money on either. I haven't seen a spectacular TT transfer yet. But they all seem to be solid and film-like with minimal digital manipulation.

Neither film is great, but I consider both essential. Quarry's Yorga has a self-aware, sardonic quality that's rare for a straight vampire film. You see it in parodies and horror-comedies, but not in old school horror flicks. It gives Yorga a lot more personality than most vampires--and pays off especially well in the great scene where the heroes try to keep him up past dawn. The writing in that scene is miles better than what you usually get from low-budget efforts like this one.

Vampires is lowbrow trash, but I enjoy the hell out of most of it. James Woods's manic vampire hunter is a real delight--especially when he's abusing his priest companion or hurling Porky's-type insults at the master vampire. It's a shame that he didn't take more horror roles. His enthusiasm is contagious. He even inspires Daniel Baldwin to give a semi-credible performance. There are ultimately way too many goofy aspects for Vampires to quality as a "good" film on any objective scale--and it runs out of gas before the conclusion. But there's a lot to enjoy. How many over-the-top, irreverent vampire action films offer top-tier cinematography and golden era JC scores?
