Is there any reason to really get the new disc when this was already released with Halloween 2 years ago? Seems like a bit of a joke to go and release this again at full price. Maybe I'm missing something?

    There's a few extras listed I haven't seen before...unless I missed them on the H2 release??????
In my retro-minded self I just remember being so disappointed initially when I saw this - we were all of 15 years old and IN COSTUME on Halloween Night and how nice it was not to be carded for an R rated movie. Leaving the flick, I was like, "...where the F was "Dawn...????" and other things like "why 'Friday the 13th Part 2' and not the first one?".
Then I remember my friends saying, "...what was that movie with the nun kissing the bullets?". I loved how someone asked "...is that Brooke Shields??" where Thana from Ms. 45 guns down the thugs that surround her in Central Park. THAT made me see this movie TWO more times at the cinema before trying to find Ms. 45 on VHS to rent....which didn't happen UNTIL 1990. Yeah - I was that determined to see that movie. ;)

The TV cut is included which substituted some of the films featured in the theatrical release. Tack on a commentary and a few other extras. I'm sold. Pre-ordered.

That's fair enough that's there some extras there that weren't available before. I still think it's shitty of Shout to go and ask the price of a Collector's Edition release here when it's just a compilation piece AND something that's already been offered by them before for free, tacked onto another release. I guess people will buy it anyway if they're nostalgic for this one.

Deathsport finally arrived yesterday from Shout, after taking almost a full circular trip around the nation by the USPS.

I watched it earlier, and I can say that it's a major upgrade over the old DVD editions. Those older releases had some print damage at times (I remember it was quite bad during one of the nude scenes) and weren't the greatest transfers. This appears to be a newer transfer sourced from either the original negative or at least an interpositive. There is really no print damage to speak of this time around, so that's great news if you're a fan of the film. The visible details are strong and there's a nice layer of film grain present. The colors are also vivid and natural.

The lossless DTS-HD Master dual-mono audio track sounded quite nice also. Everything was very clear and balanced, and I noticed no anomalies with it.

All of the old bonus features are ported over, including the audio commentary, the Trailer/TV Spot/Radio Spot and the Stills Gallery. So nothing new there.

There are also optional English subtitles for the main feature, which of course the older DVD's lacked also.

It's not cheap at its current $26.99 price, but I doubt we'll ever see it look too much better than this anytime soon...

I'm so glad I got this. I remember selling the DVD (with Battle Truck) after watching it. I loved DEATH SPORT but hated the story of Battle Truck - there are times when tyrannical characters just get unbearable and I can't stand them in the film so I sold it. Glad to have a solo DEATH SPORT blu and it is a fine release. I didn't look at the extras on the DVD so I'm glad they've been ported over.

Thanks a bunch for checking out Deathsport & sharing your thoughts. Wasn't sure what to expect given some of the transfer quality issues with Shout from time to time. This is great news. Now I plan to buy it.
